That homescreen concept is done by qwazix with first ideas from hurrian. Statusbar ideas were from sandy_locke. Locusf is implementing it atm. It's a team effort. Old lockscreen was done by me, but...

I released a newer version which fixes some visual issues with gridview for apps and apps view too. Version is 0.10 and its available both nemo-ux repo and in openrepos.

Normally a symlink gets overwritten when doing it again. Did you try to remove the old symlink?
Even a better way would be to mount a directory to another directory ... (mount --bind)
