It can also mean that you don't have enough space for the update. It is usually rootfs that runs out of space first. Flashing will definitely help but might be a bit of an overkill, try clearing up...

PC Suite is a generic message to say the device cannot update.
Try to refresh HAM to see if it solves the issue first.
Failing that check you haven't removed/disabled any repositories...

That's too bad. It looks like some folks around here managed to install LaTeX, but some things also seemed to be problematic. The mere fact you can install LaTeX in a handheld computer is amazing...
