Opera with TLS 1.2 or micro-b with nginx TLS 1.2. Alternative for mainly reading news Netsurf through Easy Debbie the fastest one but still lacking some java stuff support etc.

I have noticed that ATM for a period of three days the Nokia servers holding the Firmware for N9 are no longer responding.

The nds2.fds-fire.nokia.com doesnt even hold a DNS record anymore.

No, that wont allow CMT downgrade.
Perhaps even the change of CAL certs is not even enough for that.
Until I get hold of an older FW (I will try yours if Nokias servers dont start responding),...

This needs not only closed mode, but it has to be installed using elevated rights (what's the modern replacement for Inception? aegis-install as I recall). It should be installed with com.nokia.maemo...

You cannot downgrade CMT part of firmware. So if you flash older version of rootfs which is incompatible with new modem CMT part, it will just not work.

IIRC there is no exploit for downgrading...

Have you created DEB file with correct aegis permissions? If not, then you will not have write access to mtd.

Who cares about closed mode? ;)
Just flash open mode, downgrade and the flash anew PR1.3 and you are back to stock
