Re: BYE BYE N900 - Sad day Nokia!
It WASN'T a criticism or dig at the community...in fact I praised the community in my post...its Nokia at fault not the Maemo community!

Re: 300 testers and not a single bit of info
For a smart phone, the battery life is good. I wouldn't have to charge it every day, but I'm doing anyway.
I haven't seen the final firmware yet with some improvements in the E-Mail client. On...

Re: N900 as bike computer?
Probably quite easy. But why not go for a retro solution?
Clip playing card to forks so that it makes a nice noise when a spoke hits it.
Use microphone on N900 to pick up noise and software to...

Re: N900 speed on AT&T
It's more complicated than that - 900/1800mhz bands here were already in use for other functions than cellular, so that's one reason for the incompatibility

Re: N900 speed on AT&T
Yeah, if by "world" you mean "Europe". AT&T's frequencies are used in places as varied as South American, Canada, Mexico, Australia and several Asian countries.

Re: N900 speed on AT&T
I really can't believe Nokia hamstrung the N900 by not supporting real 3G bands in the US.

Re: I was maemo when maemo wasn't cool...
Actually, it's becoming quite boring lately, with all the chatter about the n900, maemo5, eldar, etc., and the really helpful content is relegated to a couple of threads.

Re: n900 on craigslist for 370.. is it for real?
@texrat:
pls lemme know when you want to make any quicksales in the future ;)
hmm.. given that the seller seems to prefer COD, it seems likely that it's a real n900. Unless he's a serial killer...

Save Diablo! (a rant and request)
I'm sick of all the push to Maemo5. Bugs marked WON'T FIX. And encouragement to abandon the N8X0.
Yes - it's new, shiny and the future. The N900 and beyond.
What about people...

Re: N900 battery life
In fact, it is!
As a baseline, the OMAP3430 consumes about the same amount of power while active as the OMAP2420, but it has a number of powersaving advantages.
First, it's quite a bit faster...

Re: Maemo, What's the Carrier's Argument?
Sounds like the carriers need to start developing better plan offerings dependent on device type. If someone has a n900 type device they will just start charging them at a rate equivalent to...

Re: N900 and USA market (T-Mobile)
Remember also that there are many insidious ways of crippling. Maybe features won't get cut, but software updates can be blocked and crapware get installed.... At least this is what carriers do here...

Re: The AT&T 3G issue
Nobody has corrected this yet, so I will. In Canada, Rogers and Fido both use the same 3G frequencies as AT&T. Those two (actually only one company/network) are currently Canada's only GSM...

It's also a missed opportunity to lead the way to make it modular and work on ANY carrier with a plug-in. Yanno.. where the circuit for the radio CURRENTLY resides.. right inside there with the...

Waiting a few months to a year, will, unfortunately, exhaust all of what remains of my enthusiasm for Maemo.

The AT&T 3G issue
So, as usual with Maemo, we have a problem. It would seem that, based on the published specifications (http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/N900) for the N900, the next device does not support any AT&T...
