this might sound a bit weird, but is there some way to individually disable the thanks button, i.e. that there is no "thanks" button underneath my posts? I didn't find something in my profile...

Just set the update interval to some impossibly high amount of time and you should no longer get update checks.

You are correct. However, seeing as the coulomb counter is always off to some degree, I assumed it's just a guess based on voltage.
That would fix some of the issues (with droop)....
