It's a pricey hobby no matter which way you do it. Still nothing like burning ammo with a (full-automatic) M2, though.

heh, I took up black powder shooting a couple years ago. Wanna know the price per shot cost?
$0.11 90gr of Goex FFF black powder
$0.05 Remmington 11 primer cap
$0.09 220gr .54 cal lead ball
------
$0.25 per shot

And initial cost is waaay less than cartridge shooting.

sure it's more of a "past time" than testosterone driven plinking. But you do learn patience, accuracy, and diligence especially when hunting with black powder.
