And it is faster.

Why should I use swype on a n900?

Swype is a good software for Android.

Because sometimes people need use only one hand or because they dislike open/close keyboard for write short message!

It's true:
The hardware keyboard is very slow with one hand.

But Swype with only one hand?
How will you hold the n900.
Do you think that Swype will be faster with one hand than the hardware keyboard?

I never tried swype, but I love T9 for short message (In fact I created an app for this). And swype seems to be more fast than T9...Perhaps you are right: with only one hand swype could be hard to use, but you have to "paint" not press key, so (IMHO) it could be more easy than hw keyboard...

I noticed Intel was showing Swype on their MeeGo tablet prototype at MWC (for example here). When it runs on MeeGo, should't be possible to port it to Maemo?

Intel has license to distribute a binary with their tablet UX demo. That doesn't mean the source code is available.

Re: [Under consideration] Swype input for N900

There's one key phrase in the swype on MeeGo tablet demo video here said by the guy giving the demo (it's also very possible that he's just got the concept wrong, and is wrong. After all it's just a demo rep, but still...):

"...we have an evaluation version available for MeeGo... uhhh... via OSS..."

Now there's only two abbreviations of OSS that I know of, and the only one that makes sense in context of software is Open Source Software (the other is Office of Strategic Services... is that a MeeGo relevant phrase?).

I tried it on Nitdroid. I liked it. t seems like the developer views Maemo as a dead platform though. :( I think I will have a go at writing a Maemo version.
