Re: Twitter plugin for N900 Contacts and Conversations

Since a couple days I'm unable to add a new Twitter account on my N900 (pr1.2). I can fill the data but once I click on "sign in" nothing happens and after a few seconds the box closes. Then the account is marked as "not signed in". Any clue?

EDIT: everything is working fine now, right after Twitter itself announced it was experiencing some stability issues. Perhaps that wasn't plugin fault then.

Phew! Quite a comprehensive introduction first post! Big thanks for that.

I am working on this, fellas.

The new prpltwtr plugin compiles and runs perfectly fine on the N900. I'll build some patches against the UI to fix the issue with the settings window, and push a new package in a few weeks.

Tomorrow, I'll make a blog post with instructions on preliminary usage and provide the "alpha" built plugin if you want to try it.

Will it show your general timeline or just mentions and dms?

I'm having a bit of an issue now.

I've reinstalled after flashing my phone. I've re-installed the application.

Now it connects for about 5 seconds, then disconnects with a network error, reconnects, disconnects etc.

Tried reinstalling, changing settings, nothing has improved it.

Is this a general thing? or just me?

I think this issue is because of twitter having imposed the use of OAuth for sign in. The issue could be fixed if this plug in is rewritten to use OAuth. Unfortunately I am not too much of a C/C++ programmer (Assuming this plug in is written in C/C++) else i would have done it myself!
P.S.: Just in case you are wondering, I am a COBOL programmer!

The plugin needs to be updated to the latest version in order to get OAuth support.

The other alternative is to use something like this: http://gitorious.org/twitter-proxy/twitter-proxy

I managed to build the latest version of the plugin and it worked fine on PR 1.2.

The only problem is the settings dialog doesn't show sometimes and I have no clue why.

I also lost telepathy-haze when I upgraded to PR 1.3 so I haven't tested the plugin yet.
