Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
@Tomaszd,
I've been playing around with a number of Real Audio files and found out that: 1. As you previously mentioned, there are no problems in playing downloaded real audio files (.ra). They can be opened in Media Player directly from the browser. The only minor issue is that Media Player doesn't read metadata such as the title of the track. Can you confirm this is a bug? 2. As per streaming files (either live or archived), no luck in playing them via Media Player. I can't recreate my original setup (with PR1.01 and Extra Decoders 0.3), but I know for sure I could play some .rm streams then. It would be great to rectify this, but I don't have other useful information. 3. However, I have found a way to play streaming audio with mplayer: all you need to do is select either mplayer or npp as player, and the files will eventually play (slow buffering). The same files would not work with osso. 4. I think I've spotted a bug in Extra Decoders though. If Extra Decoders is installed and I click on the url of a real audio stream in the browser, I am prompted with the option of opening the stream in KMplayer. When doing so, however, the url doesn't get ported to KMplayer properly and the operation fails. Example: type in the browser: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1.ram If you the choose to open the file in KMplayer, KMplayer will then attempt to open the following location: "/var/tmp/r1.ram" and obviously fail. The same happens if you try to save the link to the device and then open it from File Manager with KMplayer. The file will instead stream with no problem if one types the full url above directly in KMplayer. Should I create a bug for this in bugzilla? Thanks! |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
Hello, thanks for the OGG decoders support.
I am having a battery drain issue when playing ogg files, not sure if this is normal. I get CPU utilization of 30-50% and the N900 gets warm. The battery starts draining fairly fast. With regular mp3s on the default media player, or with mplayer playing ogg files, the CPU utilization is around 10%. Any idea what's going on or how to fix it? Thanks **EDIT** Just tried Flac as well, and I get CPU <10% while playing. |

Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
Does anyone know if we can somehow play WMV Microsoft Streaming Music Format on the N900?
I installed the extra decoders per this thread but wasn't able to play WMV Microsoft Streaming Format files. I am trying to play the following: http://s36wm.castup.net/990310005-52.wmv Please chime in with any thoughts or ideas, thanks! |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
Hi all,
I've installed the extra decoders app, and I can see now in my file manager that my FLV files are now associated with my media player icon. However why don't they show up in my videos in the media player application? Thanks Chris |
Re: Extra Decoders Support for the N900
I installed the Extra Decoder Support package and could no longer play mp3 files in the standard Media Player - is this known/expected behaviour?
I uninstalled the Extra Decoder Support package and the mp3 files were playable once more. (This is with 3.2009.02-8) |
