Frand,

I wonder, it seems Zen Bound uses multitouch on the IPhone,
I am curious to say how you go around that N900 limitation - Which personally I didn't even feel is missing yet (:

Out of personal experience, the multi-touch gestures used in Zen Bound for rotating the object clockwise and counterclockwise aren't used that much in regular gameplay. In fact, I'd be so bold to guess that the majority of the customers have probably never used the feature.

On the N900, the gesture obviously isn't present, but it doesn't hamper the gameplay since the rotation controls allow for the object to be moved clockwise and counterclockwise by simply grabbing the object from its edge and moving from there.

To answer my own question - the answer is that there is near zero professional development interested in the N900, so there's no software coming out anyway.

I was speaking to a friend last night who codes for a living, and he's currently working on the WinMo 7 SDK to get some games developed for launch (in the hope of making a quick buck). I asked him about programming for maemo in the interim and his response was essentially "no ****ing interest".

@ cashclientel I suspect it's because
  1. They already forked out their fee to Ovi and
  2. They hadn't budgeted for the extra work required to do that, and are waiting and hoping they won't have to (understandably)
.

I sincerely hope heads are rolling on the floor at Ovi. Lots of heads.

There is some ... like me ... but passing the extras testing process is a real pain ... as noone will test your game.

Vectormine for example is a 1Euros shareware game ... this was my first commercial games, and probably the last as trying to put non free applications/games in extras is a pain, as many things aren't working on the packages interface, and elsewhere.

I don't know if the terms changed since I last checked, but the original terms like quarterly payments and a minimum of 500EUR earned (after the Ovi and tax cuts) for payments are not helping either.

Khertan, this has nothing to do with commercial applications in general. The OP just wanted to buy an IMEI locked .deb. You don't need Extras (or any part of maemo.org) for that.

Potential business idea:

1. Make a catalogue website that can contain N900 software with a function to take payments.
2. Promote the site and fill the void in this sphere (and there is a void). This wouldn't be hard as there is such a hunger for games and apps on this device and you could promote on this forum for free
3. Charge content developers a reasonable margin
4. Completely rout Nokia from the N900 software market

You'd make money and also make a lot of N900 owners happier

But it s quite more difficult as ... not everyone browse maemo.org/download ... and it s quite difficult to advertise as not all people having a n900 are reading talk.

Sounds like a plan :)
