Using Lehto's 800(1000)ulv

Off charge and 98% battery at 1.45am,
10% battery drained at around 3.30PM ... phone has been idle..

its now 10:30PM, ive been doing the following since 3.30pm

tekken at 1ghz for around 30mins or so, then back to 800mhz ( about 20% drain during that)
5 phone calls total 10min (not long)
music via bluetooth for 5 min..
music on phone for 5 min approx.
Played with the phone at 1ghz for around 5mins....

battery is now 55%..:eek:

Its going on idle till tomorrow now...
I have not put it on charge at all...

ok,

so here is my battery graph results after 7 days...

running 900mhz stock dsp. No over heating, no restarts/shutdowns, no stuttering, nothing unusual at all.

come to your own conclusions, some heavy use drains battery and some idle use it seems to go on and on and on and on....

Via X-Term, OC'd my device at 800mhz frequency using Lehto's Kernel (zImage-800mhz)

Started and ended at 40% battery life.

Because I'm only a normal user with 2.5 months of experience in Maemo, I am confident that i can do this :D

when my device was reflashed, i thought it did not work coz the re-flash time was only 1.23 secs. but still, i rebooted my device, thinking nothing happened.

as my routine when my n900 is powered on, i always open the "healthCheck" app, and in my surprise, i saw this:

Avail Freq - 800MHz, 550MHz, 500MHz, 250MHz, 125MHz,
Current Freq - 800MHz

I therefore concluded that the re-flash was successful,

but I am kinda worried about the 600MHz Freq (where is it? or its really not there)

so far, no problems in the past 15mins.

Please Advise

Edit: 5:35 (GMT-5), i reboot my device thinking that the re-flash or overclocking that i performed is only temporary, and will be undone after a reboot. at reboot, "healthcheck" still tells me that my device is running at an 800MHz Freq.

Hehe, don't panic with healthcheck - the current version in testing that you are using does not autorefresh ... which means it checks the current CPU frequency as it loads (At the highest speed) - and then tells you...

So do not panic that your device is over heating :D or running at max speed all the time!
Will fix that in the next version :P

im using lehtos 800MHz for 3 days... im hppy with the performance but not happy with the battery life...

first test of battery charge and drain... i consider myself normal user.

after flashing the phone i idid a full charge... look how the charge drops.... :confused:

I oc'd mine to 1ghz, also raised the minimum to 250mhz. so far, no crashes or instability, but the speed increase is noticeable. For flash video speed up, i disable wlan power saving, together with the overclock it's a LOT faster, but consumes battery on a much higher rate. Wonder is there's an app for turning off wlan power saving when browsing flash and enabling it after closing the browser.

ahahaha! so in theory, oc @800mhz will reduce the life of the device's cpu for 'bout a half, so does this mean oc burns the cpu chip slowly? XD

Good question and possibly (by about 30%) - but the device is scalable....
Not kept up to date with all of these overclocking kernels... but it looks like some have extra steps in (ie, some at 125mhz, some at 800+ etc)

As with all overclocking there is a chance that the device will burn out alot quicker then expected, using nokia's standard....

But also, with that in mind... how long do you keep phones for, some people 1 year or less, some people 4/5+ years.....

it all depends on the user and what you are doing to it :D

i keep phones as long as they are working :D

maybe i'll stay by 800mhz, might get the same prob i had at my first N70

so if an n900 has....lets say 10 years life for a normal user and OC for 800mhz, the life becomes 7 years?

still too long.....XD

the kernel you are using is default at 800 and is permanent.

there are other kernels that will default at 600 with the settings above 600mhz being temporary or permanent (it depends which config you change)

if you are worried about life and still wish to clock, it may be worth trying some of the low voltage kernels.
titans "XLV ideal" kernel runs 850MHz at the same voltage that stock runs @500MHz.

so if your phone is stable using the low voltage options i would go for one of those!

the 125 bottom end seems a tad problematic also. altho this can be set higher in the configs should you desire.
