SO i tried to use video call with my friends mac but like someone mentioned it skype on a mac cant handle the video codec. booo. but I was wondering, Does Google Talk work on it? will Google Talk work on MAC?

I seem to have a slightly different problem: when I try a video call I can see the video sent from the pc on my N900, but as soon as I activate the camera on the N900 the call is disconnected.

Any ideas how to stop this from happening?

This is obviously with the latest version of Skype running on Windows Vista.

i have problem with skype video call on my N900 i dunt have thaed opsion,can somebody help me??? I tried everything i can think of

I cannot see the option to make a Skype video call in my contacts, or an option to turn on video during a Skype call.

Would have been nice if the older (VP7?) codec had been included on the N900 version.

As that's the blindingly obvious thing to do, I'd assume that the N900 didn't have the CPU horsepower to do realtime VP7 encode/decode, whereas H.264 can be offloaded to hardware.

Also the proprietary VP7 has traditionally been Linux-hostile, but with video calling on the newer Linux skype client I doubt that was the obstacle.

my problem is i cant see any skype video option on my contacts.
i tried everything mentioned
my contact has webcam
my contact called me with video but it failed
disabled skype and enble it
delete skype account and recreate it
reboot
in my contact setting there is no video call option

I could send the audio+video from N900 to my PC even if I have no webcam.

BUT: only latest windows clients seem to work with video, mac or linux clients can only do audio calls.

Hope for new skype linux release soon!

well ernaveen thx for ur help but i did tried n900- window skype 4.2 didnt work!!!
still not video call buttom

I didn't mean to imply that I was only disappointed in Nokia regarding this, as certainly equal or more blame is to be laid at the feet of Skype and/or Apple for lagging on their updates. Nokia did not however say, when advertising this feature would be available with the update to PR1.2, that it would only work with PC's running Skype 4.2.
