It seems to me that if you get SMSes or phone calls while running MeeGo, that you just need to merge some data. I'm not saying that's trivial (different address books, different file formats, clocks, ..., etc),

probably no one will develop such a sync

:D no sim in your phone -> no sms and no phone call -> nothing to sync

Actually, I was planning such a sync application at least for SMS/IM, probably calendar and other things. But sure, that doesn't exist yet. The point is, there's no guarantee you'll get SMS messages, or calls, whilst running the current MeeGo development images. For instance, we still have the issue that you can't receive a phone call if the dialer application isn't running. Though this is being worked on by quite a few people, me included. The point is, by not having your SIM in, all your SMSs are stacked up, so for the few minutes you're playing with MeeGo, you don't have to worry about missing any.

Stskeeps stated this a few posts back

"Well, depends on where you put the line really - I am personally getting close to a time where I might actually consider to use MeeGo on N900 as my daily phone. So it depends on how hackerish you are. If you are OK with dual-booting into Android at times and perhaps want something more you can hack to your heart's extent, that is DE. DE should be an interesting experience for those inclined towards that"

I assume once he feels confident to use it as a daily phone then the rest of us who are brave enough to follow suit can also use it as a daily phone.

Assuming we can make and receive calls/sms and emails along with browsing the web, all be it w/o flash, there is no reason not to give it a try if you are prepared to dual boot?

As with the CSSU recently I assume the best policy is wait for the May release and then let the brave soles use it and then decide ourselves if we want to dual-boot based on other users experiences.

Sure, I'm in the same boat as Stskeeps, I think we're very close to a beta quality, usable day-to-day device, albeit slightly rough around the edges. My reasons for wanting to adopt as soon as possible is the more people we have running it day-to-day tweaking it and improving it, reporting bugs etc. The faster we progress and improve the platform for the N900.
