Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Okay, so I'm trying to catch up on the current times with everyone else.
How can I send a text message since I'm unable to find a way of doing so. I currently have Dialcentral 1.0.5 but have not installed Gizmo on my tablet. Sorry for being so knowledge deficit on this but I'm willing to learn. :) |

Just enter a phone number or select a contact and select "SMS". You should get a dialog with a text area you can enter your message into and then select "Send" and all should be good. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Sounds too easy! *lol*
So with SMS I can send text messages to friends with cell phones? Can I also forward or view text messages I've received on my own cell phone as well? I don't have my cell phone as a forwarding number since I thought that would eat minutes off of the device. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
You can send SMS to your friends, it will appear to come from your google voice # though. They can text back to your google voice #. Those will show up online and in Dialcentral.
You can set google voice to forward SMS to your cell # and reply back (they will also appear to come from your google voice #). *EDIT* It won't eat minutes from your cell unless you answer it. |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Thanks!
I just sent my first ever text message! I feel like such a man right now, I just want to go out and chop some wood! :D One last question for the day. How can I clear out dialed numbers and messages received? I'm not finding a delete option anywhere. I still have yet to use this thing to make an outgoing phone call. I tried earlier today to call home but it didn't work. My wife got the phone call but I couldn't hear anything on my end, even after using the volume slider. Is that because the number I called is also my forwarding number as well? I think I'll try to work on that tomorrow since this is a really neat application to play around with. :) |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Stupid question, but is it not possible to add Contacts for Google Voice on the Nokia Tablet?
It seems like java doesn't want to do anything when I try too add a friend. The only way I can do so is by adding them from my computer. Thanks! |

Oh shoot!
I meant to say from the website https://www.google.com/voice from the Tablet. Sorry. Oh, and I just made my first phone call today. It was awesome! I even was left a voice mail that wrote the message in text to easily read from a friend without any misspellings or wrong words added. I'm smiling like crazy over here! :D I had no idea how cool this whole thing could be! Many thanks for this! |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Strange quirk here...Reflashed my Tablet to see it would finally allow me to log into GoogleTalk (was getting "unknown error occured while validating server's ssl certificate)...This problem was solved with the flash ...then I Install DialCentral...before the flash I had no issues logging into GoogleVoice via DialCentral...yet after the flash all that happens is I enter my id and password and the program refuses the first attemt and then hangs on the second attempt.
Have purged the program and tried reinstalling....purged and tried older versions... Really doubt that the the googletalk and google voice have any effect on the other ...just a very strange coincidence Any ideas would be appreciated |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
How are you guys adding names to your Google Contact list?
Microb just hangs on the Google Voice website. Tear actually works fairly well but the names in the list are stacked too closely on top of eachother making them impossible to read. Are you all just adding names from a PC or is there some kind of trick around this? |

Whoa-- message sent and received! sweet! Now if I could just get calls working... usually nothing happens but just now when I called out to my cell from my N810, the N810 started ringing! UPDATE: okay, I see what's happening with calls... 1) I dial out from N810 to cell using Dial central 2) a few seconds later my PC rings-- I had Google Talk logged in there also. 3) after a couple of rings, I see that Google Talk is sending a call to my N810 4) I answer, and a few seconds later, my cell phone rings, showing the Google Talk number on caller ID 5) I answer the cell, and then it and the N810 are connected Odd behavior, but at least calls connected. My only problem now is being able to hear the recipient on my N810... a problem I'm troubleshooting elsewhere. |

I have the same login issue.
I also uninstalled and deleted my .dialcentral directory. Dialcentral failed to launch until I created the .dialcentral directory myself. It's not creating it at startup. Using version 1.0.5-4 |

My small glimmer of a hope is that Google is rolling out a GoogleVoice upgrade and I just haven't seen it yet. If that is the case, I'll try and get a fix out as soon as possible to fix login. Otherwise, I'm baffled. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Just because I know people jump the gun on extras-devel, I thought I'd give a heads up that I just uploaded 1.0.6-6 to extras-devel. I've tested this on Ubuntu and within Mer 0.16-testing5. I won't have a chance to test it on Diablo until its in extras-devel so it could be broken.
The feature list for 1.0.6 at the point of 1.0.6-6 includes but not limited to: * Adding seperator between dialcentral launches in log * Implemented a work around for https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4957 * Disables notifications on uninstall * Including a vastly improved py2deb for better packages (icons on package, etc) * Tweaked sizes of stuff on recent tab * Starting some work on rotation support for fremantle * Made startup more error resistant * Simplified menus * Fremantle: Making various areas pannable * Phone selection and SMS Message dialogs now use a tree view for the top part. This gives highlighting of the last message, easier scrolling, easier code, etc * Added notifcations for various things like login and dialing * UI Tweak: Switch to accounts tab when logging in and callback is blank as a sublte hint to configure it * UI Tweak: Switch to accounts tab on failed login to remind the user they are not logged in * Bug Fix: some dependencies for Diablo * Bug Fix: Error on refreshing tabs when not logged in * Bug Fix: #4471 Notification Checkbox Won't Stay Checked (hour roll over error) * Bug Fix: Phone numbers in voicemails wouldn't appear * Bug Fix: category for Fremantle/Diablo * Bug Fix: needing to manually create "~/.dialcentral" due to earlier logging changes * Bug Fix: dependencies for fremantle * Bug Fix: Issues when trying to stack error messages * Bug Fix: Python2.6 deprecates some stuff I did EDIT1: There are several issues with the new UI work that I need to resolve EDIT2: 1.0.6-8 seems to be doing the trick for me. |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
Gah, I had a really thorough reply typed up then Tear crashed. :(
I used Dialcentral pre 1.0 successfully. I forget what version it was, I had. I stopped using it until recently and I think a couple of updates came during that time. Not until I had 1.0.5-4 did I go to use it again and I couldn't log in. I tried it for the first time about a week ago. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. uninstalling, deleting .dialcentral/, reinstalling uninstalling, deleting .dialcentral/, reinstalling, rebooting No difference. I have not reflashed anything. Nothing is logged to the console when run from the command line. I think I'll try what is in extras-devel EDIT: 1.0.6-5 is the same deal. No 'force' error when refreshing, though. :) |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
epage I was just giving 1.0.6-7 a run. The only thing I see "broke" at the moment is the contacts are not loading for me. I do love how the last message that was sent is highlighted. I gives it a nice clean look. I think that the screen that pops up when you click on a message is a little redundant as I noted on one of the messaging UI stream line requests, but thats minor.
Could you provide the location in your code that needs to be changed to make the font larger. I think I am the minority in wanting it larger so I'll do it manually with a little direction from you. Thanks for the progress and keep working on it. I find myself checking daily to see if there is a new build :) **EDIT** Can you possibly add the option to type in the time to check for new messages again. I found that 2 mins was my sweet spot and its a goner. Maybe an "Other" setting that lets you type in the time. **EDIT2** The refresh for messages also appears to be broke. It shuts off the blinking LED but does not update the message list. |

Re: Dialcentral 1.0
I really need some help in organizing all of this together into something that's easy and manageable.
I have: 3 email accounts including hotmail, yahoo, and gmail 1 cell phone 1 house phone Pidgin Tear web browser installed I guess I'm having diffculty understanding how to tie all of these together. Could a few people care to share their working setup on how you find it easiest to send and receive voice and text messages? Thanks. |
Re: Dialcentral 1.0
A lot depends on the cell plan you have. If you have a my circle, you can set up google voice to transmit YOUR google voice caller ID on each incoming call, making all calls you receive free. You can then see who is calling by answering the phone. If you dont want to talk to em just hang up and they never know :) If you are a real cheap skate, you can even make all your calls for free by calling your google voice # from the cell (free in the "my circle" situation) and then initiating the outgoing call from your voicemail menu. Personally I found myself using my cell at home all the time. So I ditched it and went prepaid for emergencies only and invested in a magicjack for home. Lets face it, most of us are not important/entertaining enough to justify being on the phone all the time! I use gizmo5 on the tablet as it receives calls from google voice for free. Home phone I have magicjack (line 1) set up on an ata and gizmo5 (Line 2, different from the N810 account). I then have each line associated with google voice. For text messages I was originally using google email with my tablet. Since notifications are now possible with dialcentral, I am using it to text. You can have both gmail and hotmail on your tablet, Yahoo does not support POP3 or IMAP.
Now, my outgoing calls from home show up a different number than what people call me on (google voice). It was a bit confusing at first to most of the people that called, but once they stored both numbers in their cell phone it was easy for them to remember which to call. When dialing from the nokia via dialcentral it will show your google voice number. It took a few weeks, but now everyone calls my google voice number. I have all my voice mails turned off so Google Voice handles it all. If I get a voice mail, I am notified by dial central blink and I also set up my gmail account to receive notifications from the GV website for fail safe. It may seem a bit redundant, but its nice to have back up in case one goes down. *** I use the built in client for gizmo5 SIP connection as it automatically connects whenever I am online. No need for a second client. Also, depending on the IM services you use, the built in client now supports most protocols with the RTCOMM beta release (search the boards for install instructions). I like having everything built in a nice little package. Less programs I need to run the better :) If you need more ideas let me know. |
