This is not a new date, it was the original date Amazon UK had since a long time. Can someone confirm 9th Nov for UK release date?

Yes i can i did post today but its gone anyway call nokia uk tommorow and they will tell you forget about Amazon they will get them much much later.

Delivery of Nokia N900 stock into our Nokia stores has unfortunately been delayed by two weeks to w/c 16th November. The delivery when it arrives will be the first N900 stock in the UK and orders will be dispatched on a first ordered, first serve, basis directly from our Nokia stores. Yep, I also received the email about re(pre)ordering from Nokia UK online, and on the phone, the bloke confirmed that they are expecting their first shipment on 9th Nov, and may ship out on that date, but probably the next. Hope to have it by Wednesday 11th Nov.

That sounds like great news. I'm hoping the guy I spoke to just hadn't dealt with that situation before so had to go and find out what to do. I didn't get a call back, but it was towards the end of the day. Maybe I should call them back tomorrow...

Thanks for the info anyway. I feel a bit better now at least!

If Nov 16th is correct, Nokia must be ready to have them boxed and ready by next week.

Man, the air freight is going to be a beeuch! I hope they have good customs handlers for incoming freight for all the countries :)

yes, something is very wrong in sweden..

finnish nokia online store rep told that mid nov is still valid for finland even though sweden will be having theirs at worst Q1/2010

Amazon UK has had that date for the last fortnight. My guess is that the're not going to give a different date till they get a firm response from nokia (something better than 'November').

Unless they know something we don't. I've ordered with them, so I keep checking.

The Nice Lady at Amazon support checked, rechecked, and refreshed the date. Amazon UK still believe they will have n900s to ship on Monday.

Which raises the question: are Nokia lying to Amazon? Cos the despatches for the devices should be worked up by now, surely?

Yes, I know. I chose not to believe the website, since it hasn't changed with the latest news. And the contact number was freefone.

People at Amazon are adamant. So either they're right, or Nokia is mis-informing htem.

The question is not if nokia's lying to amazon, rather is amazon lying to its customers?
I think they will play around with the price a bit pretty soon, so they try to get alot of preorders for the current preorder price. How to do that? Easy, tell the impatient customers it will arrive very soon and they will preorder it ASAP, before it could be too late.(Or that's at least what they are thinking ;))
I'm still not sure whether to preorder it for 498€ at alternate or wait up to 2-3 months after it has been released, where a 2nd pricedrop should already happen.

But I have already ordered. They gain nothing by fibbing to me, other than losing their reputation for quality. The only reason I chose them over other suppliers is because I trust them, and have dealt with them without problem for many years.

I can see the point about leaving the date wrong on the main page - but I don't see they gain anything by lying to me. In fact, if they set back the date after I called them this close to it to check, they stand a risk of me cancelling and buying elsewhere. And if they lose my book and dvd custom, (not to mention that of all my friends and family), they lose something. I'm sure Amazon can stand that loss - but it's not a way to do business for long.

Amazon is probably not talking directly to Nokia but to the distributor in the end of logistic chain.

But in a few days we know more :)

I phoned Nokia in the UK yesterday and they said N900 would be released at the end of November! Also it would be on all uk networks? Do you think they are telling porki pies?

Two of you posted within eight minutes of each other: both had rung Nokia UK yesterday - and you'd got very different answers.

Either you're in alternate universes, or one of you spoke to a customer service operator who did not tell the truth.
