No one will be charged until they have units. So we won't start seeing that happen until early next week it sounds like.

Dell update:

I used to work for the company that still makes Dell's printers, so I have a little insight, but this info is from Dell.

1. Dell does not stock phones (at least not yet- Dell will also sell their own brand of phones next year in the US)
2. Dell is an official reseller for Nokia. Our orders will ship DIRECT from Nokia's direct market distribution channel.
3. Dell's first allocation for customers is expected to be shipped on 11/24 -may be earlier, but more likely later (first week of December).
4. Contrary to my doubts, Dell will honor the discounts.

I had forgotten that Dell ships Nokia phones through Nokia's own distribution. I used a very helpful corporate sales contact for the information. My company (like others) does a lot of business with Dell.

Are you saying the product will be shipped directly from Nokia to us... and not from Dell warehouse?

Yes. No middle-man like Amazon or Newegg. I reworded that line to be more clear about it.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Alright let me understand this... Many retailers will get the product to their warehouse and distribute it to buyers. But you're saying... when we order through D3LL, the product does not go to their warehouse before coming to us. If this is the case, it contradicts with this

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Per UPS Website, only critical packages will be picked up / delivered Nov 26, and only air/international packages on Nov 27.

So the 26th is out and only air (overnight) packages on the 27th. Being as they are considered holidays, I wouldn't count on them being part of the 3-5 day ground shipping either.

Dell does not differentiate from direct shipments or their own warehouses. Same shipment language. Dell does not carry phones in their warehouses. They take the order and forward the info to Nokia's distribution partners.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

That implies the coupon code we used is more likely to be honored by d3ll.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Yes, and IF everyone gets their allocations at the same time, Dell buyers should be about five days in front of Amazon and Newegg since no second warehouse to ship, receive and distribute from.

Dell should get their allocation before Amazon and Newegg or any other 3rd party in the US, so it could be one week or more earlier.

Any information on when/if the stores (both flagship and retail outlets) will have it for general sale?

All great information, Rushmore... and it sounds like it came from a reputable source. Thanks for looking into this.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Question now is when product actually ships;)

There could be a flood of orders next week, but complicated due to US holiday. If orders ship next week, only likely scenario for receipt is next day delivery. Standard delivery in the US takes a back seat from next week through Christmas in regards to shipping queues.

Laughing Man 2009-11-20 20:04

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Processing of orders, yes. Shipping (as in driving the product around) holidays don't intefere as much. It's like the weekend, most people don't work on weekends but product is still moved around. They just park the truck when it reaches its destination until the processing center opens again.

Re: Dell has the N900 for as low as $442

Unless there is a delay, Dell will know nothing now until they get shipment notifications from Nokia's distribution partner.

Thinking about it though, if the devises are going to a warehouse and shipping to customers from there, this is not really different than going from Amazon or Newegg.

All depends on if the product was being centrally delivered and then distributed to retailers or is direct shipping to them. If the latter, not much timing difference with Dell or anyone else.

Me too, wow.

Although, I just spoke to my creditcard company and the charge still doesnīt appear as pending. So I donīt think theyīre quite ready to ship. Maybe Iīll hear that it was charged tomorrow morning.

Did you two do next day or 2 day shipping or the free 3-5 day shipping?

Mine hasn't changed to shipped yet. I did 3-5 day free shipping. I tried multiple times to call and change it to next day on Friday but all I got was csr hell where departments kept saying they couldn't do it and bouncing me back and forth. Maybe the list of addr and shipping methods had already gone out for drop shipment and was therefore frozen.

I did the free one.

Both my order placed on the 5th and the one placed on the 19th show as shipped.

For your information.

On the invoices from dell the invoice date is 11/22. So all of us that ordered from dell qualify for the Nokia discount. Thatīs $50 off for all of us.

Well, the mysteries of life. Didnīt it happen with the N97 that other vendors shipped at the same time, or before NokiaUSA.com?

I did, that one also shows as shipped. Iīve got multiple N900īs coming.

The first one on the 5th I got for $476 with tax, and now probably with rebate on top of that. No cashback.

The second one is this one. I actually meant to cancel it, but since itīs coming Iīll take it. I should get a 10% cashback on it as well as the rebate.

The third is amazon.com for $480 including rebate. No direct cashback, but the equivalent of $15 cashback on my Amazon.com visa.

weird olighak's ordernumber starts with 95 where as mine with 93 and he got the invoice earlier I guess rushmore's prediction came true they are shipping the ones from whom they are getting more profit and we get it last.

I guess theyīre just getting ready to ship. Your status will probably change during the night. I used my business address on those. We buy all our computers from Dell Small Business, maybe that helps I donīt know? Maybe they will fullfill all preorders and went by last names or something, who knows.

Well my November 5th order is $441+tax for Dell, so thatīs the same profit as yours.

Also the order shown from the 19th will actually only give dell $476 (571 - 10%*529.99 = 518 - Tax $42 = 476.) As theyīll give me 10% cash back on the order from the 19th.

Yea I think everything will be ok as long as we qualify for the $50 dollar rebate and the Dell coupon deals are not getting kicked to the bottom than I will wait patiently for the next 24 hrs for my email letting me know my order is shipping.

There are likely several distribution centers dispatching orders. The one my orders will be sent from might have started processing several hours earlier than the other ones.

Or the one that is dispatching mine might have started picking and packing orders before they are charged, while other centers wait for them to be charged before they pick.

The warehouse part might be contracted out and the contractors might have different business processes.

I remind you that I hadnīt been charged an hour ago.
