Well, you'll be royally ****ed up the @$$ if they some how charged you before it's shipped out. But of course, if you're filthy rich, you're fine.

Anyone care to share a link? or are they not taking any more orders?

Dell already went through their initial allocation, so pulled the N900 from their site due to the surge in orders. They had a discounted price for a few hours and they got slammed with orders.

Fried chicken is same everywhere. Chicken farms are not very common here. There are KFC's all over Europe. Those and Kebab shops were our favorite places for absorbing alcohol binges when I lived there. Mainly was in England but went to many countries and places including Amsterdam. My main memories are Anne Frank's house and giant french frie boxes and a weird green sauce at McDonald's. You dutchies really like your fries. I bet they taste fresh with potato farms there. ;)

Oh yeah, and the Red Light District ;)

I remember though there was an incident in which the Nokia 5800 was released on amazon before Nokia.com?!

Nokia Online Store always ship before everyone elses I believe, it's from Nokia!
Although the flagship stores seem to get them first before the online store sending out the handsets.

The fastest possible way to get your hand on the handset is to head to a flagship store. Although I wouldn't recommend it, if you wait for a few days, you can save yourself quite a lot of money :)

I reorder from nokia usa and the sales agent was so sure that n900 gone ship tomorrow and i will have it by monday... I was happy..

But here comes the sad part..

After 15 mins i get call from the same guy .. he said Nokia N900 will ship at end of November.. So nobody i guess is getting before end of this month.. nor amazon nor newegg i am not sure about others..

Re: Play.com - Expected stock

If Nokia delay supply to Third party retailers like Play and Amazon till Christmas, they may well find themselves in a nasty spot. They can afford to lose my goodwill. Not so sure they can afford to lose Amazon's.

Besides which, the original date which Nokia gave Amazon was 26th October - exactly the same as their own release. Why change policy now?

I suspect what you have heard is that the shops, places like Carphone Warehouse and such, will be getting it a bit later. From what I understand, that's pretty normal.

We don't know if 26th Oct came from Nokia, or for example if Amazon's wholesaler guessed.

Kieron,

I went 600 mins, Unltd texts and web. Your plan £30 + web.

£35 a month.

Did silver really change that much? I know gold is on the up and up but silver!?! Also the payment shouldn't come out until the item is shipped, or was it different for you.

Amazon US -> 550Dollar
Amazon Germany -> 900Dollar

It's an European device and we European shall pay twice as much.

Why?

shadow12 2009-11-12 09:52

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Because we have a stronger currency, silly :(
Your salary when converted to dollars should be nearly twice as high as your counterpart in the US. Whether this is actually true or not I do no know.

Amazon UK works out at €550. The only way I could buy it for the "proper" euro price was to buy it in pounds :)

Few reasons come into my mind quickly here:

- Different taxes
- Differences in currencies
- Different markets => different pricing (it isn't about charity, it's about profits)

There might be other reasons too affecting it, like labour price (not only salary paid, but also other mandatory costs for employer), logistics (device is shipping from South Korea, not Europe) and so on.

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

The German expansys site is a lot more reasonable €565 http://www.expansys.de/d.aspx?i=188856

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Google says: 565 Euros = 847.8955 U.S. dollars

Still a pretty big difference to $550

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

this has been discussed ad nauseum already.
search around a bit, you'll find several answers for the big difference, foremost the very, very weak dollar.

That's today's currency exchange rate. The last couple of years have been a bit of a rollercoaster for the dollar and product pricing doesn't follow exchange rates precisely. Nokia has to compete with other devices and has to price for the market.

That 565 has 17.5% tax in it that EU customers have to pay for..

Re: OPK: N900 deliveries have now started!!

Holland:
around 530 euro 19% tax so 530 / 1.19 = 445 euro x 1.5 = 667.5 $

It's still more but not that extreme

No offence intended, but can we please keep the topic of price in another thread as this thread is dedicated to deliveries of N900...thanks
