Can't check mine as it's a paper statement, but i had the £2 go out right at the start when i ordered 16th Oct. Does this new activity suggest they have the phones in stock now then, does anyone know, despite my account still reading Pending stock?

edit: sorry fogot to say mine's n T mobile.

Its looking like the NFS have them in stock - some people who bought SIM free are picking up today and others who bought contract are having them sent out on Mon :D

Guys I have also seen movement on my acount of 2 pounds being debited from my account. I think things must be getting closer since had happened before about 2 months ago. Hopefully the ammount should be reimbursed on monday and the phones will shortly follow. T-mobile here to.

No hope - the initial stock is all allocated, the earliest you can expect will be next Fri from everything I have seen..

Squirrel - take all dates with a pinch of salt - as it all depends on stock :)

From the last MPD email (And only one!) - they will get them on the 3rd and send out to pre-order'er's - i would assume if they have no stock they will have to wait for the next batch from Nokia, so allthough the touted release date for normal sales is the 4th - it could be extended due to stock levels.

Placing a pre-order now should be fine, but be aware you may not get it on the 4th, and it could come through later :(

I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if this has already been said. I think you guys might want to contact the Advertising Standards Authority for 'Nokia Retail' and their 'exclusive' availability' deal. That looks very misleading to me. Worth a try, anyway.

Amen to that. My PAYG order has been sitting in the same 'New (other)' state for the last 9 weeks.

I'm not too concerned, probably just the way their system handles PAYG orders. It will no doubt just change to 'shipped' any day now.
Nevertheless, it would have been nice to have more descriptive order status.

How much was yours? The price kept changing between £469 and £392.

I had it down for a sim free one @ £469 (which is now £499) but changed it over to the £392 PAYG.

Yup, I went down exactly the same road as you, once I found out there was no network lock applied to the PAYG devices.

LOL - Great minds think alike :D

Sent them a very long mail pointing out all the inconsistencies and a few screenshots of their site and the confusion it had caused. I have a case number and will see what happens. Im going to complain to MPD Monday if they are not shipping then, as they promised to be first, and if the NFS are shipping them MPS should as well.

If anyone else wants to complain to the ASA, then it would be a good idea as the more people who complain, the more likely they will do something..

I think they were attempting to promote their 'exclusive' availability to sell the N900 with a contract - however, their advertising was ambiguous at best.

I would imagine this leaves them in a tenuous position only with customers who ordered 'SIM Free' packs, expecting to be supplied prior to other sales channels in the like-for-like 'SIM Free' state.

All of use who are active in this thread presumably don't have are n900's yet.
After looking at all these new threads about how buggy the n900 is, reboots, mic fault....ext

Are you not tempted to cancel your order with mpd............ i know i am

and wait till the next batch of n900's come, these bugs could be hardware who knows?

No- don't really see the point. There are plenty of people who have their devices who are more than pleased with them. Surely we may as well see whether the ones we're sent are woking first- if not, send them back. What is tere to lose after all this waiting?

No, hardware faults are inevitable with any device, there is no such thing as a perfect manufacturing process, if mine is broken, its going back for a replacement unit.

As for the bugs - it to be expected, this device is bleeding edge, but the community will be on the bugs quicker than the standard fix of waiting for the manufacturer to release a patch - look at the droid forums, they have serious bugs at the moment.

If you want a rock solid device, buy something else, but if you want a cutting edge device and are willing to have a slightly bumpy road on the way - the the n900 is the right choice

I don't think it's actually that many people. None of the devs has reported anything unfixable. Some of the microphone issues seem to have ben solved by rebooting which suggests it's a software issue rather than hardware (which is no help at all to those who keep getting the problem after reboot).

There are more people disappointed because they expected n900 to be an upgrade from n97, when in fact it bears no relation to symbian at all, and is quite different. If that's what you're expecting, you might want to rethink. But I wouldn't let the few hardware issues put you off.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

I emailed MPD to change ther tariff Id chosen. Only ordered last week - got this reply:

I’m afraid Sir that after looking into your order we are unable to change your tariff. We are hoping to have all N900 dispatched before the 5th DEC, allowing that Nokia give us the stock in time.

I hope this is ok.

Have now cancelled my order - If its gonna be the 5th I'll just reorder again, when I've seen that you lot get yours on or around the 5th. Just dont trust them anymore.

i noticed MPD's web site now changed N900 from pre-order to order. the link leads you to nokiaretail.co.uk which still says pre-order though

Spudboy 2009-11-28 20:34

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

MPD updates their pages more frequently. Nokia retail never update that page - it's been like that as soon as MPD started the redirect.

Other people have posted that they have actually picked up from the store today if they ordered sim free. Apparently the contract orders are being shipped out Mon - this is only for people who ordered through the NFS..

As far as Im aware, all the stock is taken with pre-orders = sorry Nuknuk - have you sent yours back yet??

But aren't the NFS contract orders actually handled by MPD? So surely ALL MPD pre-orders should start shipping then.

As far as I know, they are handled by MPD. Thats why Im waiting until Mon, see what people are saying about NFS contract orders being sent out and then trying (again) to get hold of MPD and see if the damn thing has shipped..

From the postings I have seen, people who ordered sime free from NFS could pick up from store yesterday, pre-ordered contracts will be shipped from tomorrow, as for contracts on general sale, hopefully from next fri if there is stock. NFS delivery is all allocated to pre-orders at the moment

How do you get it on contract from nfs or do you mean on contract from mpd?
