What hardware doesn't yet work in the build you used?
Wifi, accel, bluetooth, GPS, sound, phone/gsm data?

titi974 2010-05-17 15:02

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

yeap :
wifi, accel, bluetooth, GPS, sound, phone/gsm data

something weird, you'll see in the video, if u click wifi, it's activating, try to search then deactivate itself !

bluetooth (for me), when i click it is going grey !

and this morning i had a bug, android stayed in portrait view !

i'm uploading the video right now, there are many things to see ;) and i've also tested live wallpapers lol

I think this is because wpa_supplicant needs to be built & included. Once that works, it should make the wifi functional.

so how easy is it to install android and dual boot m5 and android atm?

dj_steve 2010-05-17 18:44

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

titi if you go into dev tools > terminal and run mountd it will mount the emmc - for some reason it wont mount on boot at min :S

I don't think dual boot works yet (could be wrong). Ideally, we'll start trying to use the kexec features in titan's (and others') enhanced maemo kernels to load up android. (the OS's don't run side-by-side using kexec, btw). I haven't tried the bootmenu method, but that would be your best bet right now. Just wait until DJ_Steve has a build functional enough for us to start playing with now.

Unless you're a dev and can help him do the build :) Then talk to him!

I wonder if there is an Android dev @ Google who could help us out? .. just have to find the right twitter account or whatever :) Perhaps find Andy Rubin's?

That's not too bad then... when it gets near your neck and you feel like you're about to suffocate, that's when we'll get worried :)

Thanks for the files dj_steve.
You have made good progress already.

Charging to 100% with original kernel before playing around with it again.

I can't wait to have android on my phone, I plan to install it as soon as wifi works!

How did you guys get games on the phone without wifi?

great work Dj steve!

btw I wanted to ask, would you guys think it would run faster with a class 6 micro sd, or is it capped somewhere and wouldn't matter?

I personally plan to install it when either wifi or gsm/umts data works.

You can always transfere files via usb, or copy them over within maemo then use them in android, but it wont matter afaik, as there is something with activation or something that does it so that you are in need of wifi or gsm/umts data to install applications (please correct me if im wrong)

If you have a faster card then the files you use will transfere faster over to the ram, but if you dont have a really slow card now i doubt you would be able to tell much of a difference in a blind test.

dj_steve 2010-05-18 07:26

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

re installing apps:

use adb or maemo to drop the apps files into /system/app and android will install them itself for you - it always monitors that folder

titi974 2010-05-18 15:17

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

yeap i can confirm this ;) adb ?? what's that lol
and you are right, i am experiencing crashes xD but hey ! when wifi or gsm will work, we'll have the android market and gapps working ! :P
oh an other thing weird, after copying the complete app folder of 2 different builds (made for nexus 1, i'll tell you which one) and then copying the one of your build (to be sure that the build would still work :D i got the first run android home screen, but running in portrait mode !

EDIT :

Roms are : Kang-o-rama 0.7b1 and Enomther's TheOfficial Nexus1

got them from xda ;)

dj_steve 2010-05-18 17:02

Re: [Android] NITDroid V2 Development Topic

yea the protrait mode can be forced depending on app (try the phone app on my build for example) and adb is the 'android debug bridge' only useful if you have linux or a decent understanding of, its basicly a usb tethered shell session tothe device
