i have a problem.

installed nitdroid late at night, woke the next morning with with a black screen with a load of text

i reset the phone and multiboot is gone, nitdroid is gone and i'm back on stock kernel

now, if that was all i wouldn't mind but ever since then i cant install power kernel, there are many ways to install it and i feel like i tried them all but still no luck

when using xterminal it seems to install but after i run uname -r im still on 2.6.28-omap1 and yes i did reboot afterwards

can anyone help? has anyone had this? i really dont want to factory reset my n900 but i cant live with 600MhZ

Worked for me, although a bit of trouble installing.
One thing i do have to say is that some apps are missing when i do a search in the market place.

Try this:
Go to X-terminal and type - root - reboot and let the keyboard open. This was working for me and multiboot is back

Tap 4 corners of the screen clockwise when it asks you to press the Android. This will skip the signup phase and let you activate your wifi first, so you can sign in without trouble.

Now if only I can get mine out of airplane mode....
Tried the usual delete/create logs file ect to no avail.Wifi working ok though :)

I did not answer your question, I thought you are talking about signing in games (the post above you was talking about games)

I had that problem yesterday; install fine, but wont let me sign in. 2 options

1) touch 4 corner clockwise will take you out of the sign in wizard, try empty space corners.

2) scroll down to bottom, there is an option to 'tap to skip sign in wizard' .....AH!

sorry about the delay response, I thought you are referring to those games which I have no idea how to sign in or what not, hope this helps, buddy,

As long as business are going, the airplane icon has very little meaning. I have been getting wifi, bt, dl and upload files while the airplane is in sight. another trick, turned the airplane off from the power switch and reboot. That works for me. Finally, if you do not have a lot invested, e.g. app installed, just went thru the installation process again, it took me less than 5 min to do a re-install, either manually or auto-installer.

If you have a sim pin code enabled, then disable it in maemo (settings -> phone -> sim card - mine is danish so just roughly translated it) ;)

e: Then boot into Nitdroid :)

Phone still works perfect. The sim code is an optional extra security measure so if you lose your phone no one can switch on phone and make calls without entering pin.

Sorry forgot to add 8gb - to be honest it is fine, a little jittery on load sometimes, but not regularly.... Works just as well as maemo for me (Well, cant get the phone part working (ie 3g internet etc)) - but thats probably me not setting it up correctly.

Really am v impressed with the hard work going into this, looking great :)

Well done NITDroid Team.

Just use the Hardware buttons with the "gas" touchscreen option...the arrow keys allow you to brake, gas, and turn. And the enter key is the nitrous...

And another tip for the Asphalt 5 players:

I discovered that if you choose the "touchscreen" option in the controllers menu, it also enables the "d-pad" or arrow keys to drive and "d"key is for nitrous and "x" key for break...
Just a tip to everyone that prefers keyboard insted of touchscreen (like me) ;)

I was just about to ask about that. Can most games with multitouch controls be controlled with the keypad?

Also I saw some videos on youtube of psx4droid running quite nicely but most people said they're not able to run it. Do I need to do something in particular to make it run on the latest nitdroid build?

A lot of pages to run through but hopefully some can help

I am unable to add an APN to use the 3G function. I follow the instructions on adding an APN, hit "save" but the list of APN's remains blank.

Update: Got this resolved (not sure how) but i cannot connect to the 3G. "Data Enabled" is set to yes.

Re: Nitdroid today, auto-installer and 1st impression and 0.0.8 installation

Dear friends,
I'm planning to install NitDroid very soon, but I have a couple of questions before.
1) What exactly does it mean with "telephone partially working"? I would be happy if I'm able to place/receive calls/sms under "2-2.5G".
2) What happens if I change/take out the sd card under Maemo? And what if I restart with a different card or without any?
3) Finally, it says that updates would be available through the app manager like any other app. I would like to know what is the extent of it. Will it upgrade NitDroid, formatting the sd again? Or just update some files?
Believe me, I was trying to read the whole thread, but I couldn't find the answers. Sorry for the inconvenience and many thanks for your answers!
Cheers,

Cheers,

1) No audio on phone calls. You can receive SMS. Haven't tried sending.
2) Nothing under Maemo. It would fail to boot to NitDroid, you could still boot to Maemo.
3) I believe that refers to the installer / multi-boot. Updates to the filesystem would still be downloaded through the installer or separately. The whole filesystem may need to be updated, resulting in having to redo app install and settings.

The microphone doesn't work (and I think the speaker that's on the front of the device). Hence you can't talk.

The Internal GPS doesn't work so Google Maps probably won't work. Users who have it working are using an external bluetooth GPS unit.

In the latest version, the menu button is now the sliding lock switch on the N900 and the camera button functions as 2 buttons: Half press and Full press. I don't remember what the equivalent Android function is but it is all listed with the download instructions over at the NITDroid forums.

I am facing the same problem while installing 0.8 which I faced with 0.7.Installer gets stuck on Downloading NitDroid-0.0.8-Popov.tar.bz2.Previously with 0.7 I overcomed this problem by enable/disable of extra devel catalogue but that aint working while downlloading 0.8.I have also tried apt-get update but that didnt worked either and took a very long time to update.Even the app manager takes ages to refresh.

any help will be appreciated.

Partition failed, should it be ext3? manually partition your SD, only steps 1 - 3, and resume nitroid installer. Formatting will be done by installer.

Yeah, I partitioned the SD card on Ubuntu instead. Seems to have fixed it. :)

I have the same issue, but I was able to get WiFi enabled, and have successfully used it. Strangely, Airplane mode is enabled by default. I don't have a simlock.

Also, I noticed the installer exited with:

I have been away for a while and now coming back to see the progress. There are so many tutorials and links, I am lost as to what I need to do.

I currently have the flying world version of Nitdroid installed which I believe was the last version before the autoinstaller.

Can somebody please point me towards the instructions to install the latest version of Nitdroid.

Thanx!
