Previously the resulting opacity was relative to original image (ie. if you had almost fully transparent image to start with there was no way to get it zero transparent). So now it first makes the original image fully visible (no transparency) and then reduces the transparency to level user has set with GUI.

This way you really can have widgets that don't have any transparency (can't see wallpaper trough the image) or then fully transparent one or anything in between.

I'm experiencing a specific (and reproducible) behavior problem with the latest version. When I use theme customizer it is now changing the geometry of the contacts on my desktop. The pictures are getting cropped somehow. It didn't used to do that. And I can fix them if I re-apply the theme (but then I lose my customizations of course).

EDIT: on closer inspection, i think two things are happening, i still think the picture is getting scaled somehow, but there is also a distinct "shadow" effect getting applied to the edges of the contact shortcut and getting overlayed on top of the picture. I'm confident none of the previous versions of theme-customizer were doing this.

Oh yeah... it's the transparency thing. I have to change it a bit, will post update later today.

thanks again D-Iivil.
Is there any chance the font size increments can be changed to +1 +2 +3 etc rather than +1 +3? +1 isn't big enough and +3 is too big with Droid Sans.

Version 0.9-31 uploaded with following changes:
* reverted opacity changer back to original behaviour - resulting opacity is relative to original image
* added new font sizes
* finished french translation included

Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

Question ... according to FAM I have version 0.9-30 installed, but "about" dialog read 0.9-26. Is that OK or have something messed?

As for "custom themes" -- I can save with new name, but even after reboot have only "full" themes available, not any of saved. Checked backup dir (/opt/theme-customize/backups/opt/usr/share) and there are directory's with my themes.

I suppose "my themes" should be available on the list?

Thx,
b.

What list are you talking about? If you choose to save as new theme, it will be visible (or should be) in built-in theme selector application (you know, the place where you usually change themes).

Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

Seems like 0.9-31 was for some reason jammed in extras-devel queue, so I just uploaded 0.9-32 with these small changes:
* added "save as new theme" -button to top menu also if you just want to make quick copy of your current theme before modifying anything
* removed ttf-droid as depency

Aye! I thought I am modifying "icon theme" and was looking in Theme selector's drop-down menu :)

Thanks!!!

Stupid question I know - but how can I delete a theme I've created but no longer want?

Using file manager you like (xterm, filebox) and simply delete the theme's folder from:
/opt/usr/share/themes/

I'll create GUI for this at some point in future releases :)

Slight problem... The lock screen background changer doesn't seem to be working... I rebooted and everything, and its still the same, and it's not the original one with the package, it changed to another theme's background.

If you have maenotify installed, uninstall it.

Yes, I know. I did that fix directly on my phone and wasn't able to update source code of the binary application. And since that was critical bug I decided to push it out rightaway with wrong version info @ about dialog. Sorry about that.

But then some good news: found working PSU from my old computer (which is a miracle that old 250w power can run my DualCore PC), so new version with GUI for managing themes is soon on it's way to repos :)

d-iivil 2010-10-23 14:25

Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

Version 0.9-34 just uploaded to extras-devel with following changes:
* added GUI for deleting themes created with Theme Customizer
* made improvements to saving new theme
* added checking if current theme has been updated since backup was made and then re-create backups with new updated files
* added Chinese translation

Note: the theme "deleter" won't regognize themes created with earlier versions of Theme Customizer, so you need to delete those manually by deleting corresponding folder from:
/opt/usr/share/themes/

All themes you create with this 0.9-34 are remoavable with Theme Customizer's future versions (ofcourse) :)

d-iivil 2010-10-23 14:50

Re: [Announce / WIP] Theme Customizer - customize your N900

And small update rightaway (0.9-35):
* added touch command to files when saving current theme as new

I already answered to your PM, but I'll copy & paste the answer here aswell in case someone else is wondering same thing:

Hildon caches the settings application view to make it look like it's loading fast. To clear this cache you must change your theme to something else and then change it back to what you want.

You got this application probably because James_Littler made his Pleego-remix theme depend on Theme Customizer: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...873#post850873

Edit: please stop shouting (!!!!), very annoying to read and makes me wanna shout back instead of typing calm and informative answer. Also by grammar you shouldn't use whitespaces before punctuation marks, only after.

Hi, D-Livil. After upgrading to PR 1.3, I couldn't resize my icons anymore. Before the upgrade, I was using size 70 and now they returned to the original size. Already changed to other themes and icons size, but nothing seems to help.

Reinstall theme customizer, reboot and then it should work.

I did as you said, and now it's fully working again. Thank you!

By the way, thanks again for the amazing work with this Customizer and many other programs that gave new life to my N900.

Try to launch it from terminal and paste the errors here, type this into terminal to launch it:
/opt/theme-customizer/theme-customizer

Note: do that as regular user, no sudo gainroot stuff needed.

No they don't. You can set widgets to be fully visible and top menu fully transparent (for example) if you want.

Uninstall the version you have now installed and not working, then download this and install using app manager:
http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...0.9-38_all.deb

That one is compatible with PR 1.2 & Qt 4.6
