i got custom kernel for power users installed but everytime i put in the command for o.c xterm asks me for a password. what the hell is this? i dont know of any password neither have i put any on my phone

I didn't want to update but made an error while removing power-kernel and my n900 started to update, didn't stop it. reported some errors but I got those before from the "mime" archive. I have no idea what that means but yea, new update, isn't all that great, lost 10megs of rootfs to what idk, smoother? I guess so, was always smooth to me, kernel works but I de-installed it anyway,

Lets see what happens now....

Thank you. That reminds me, what backup tool is recommended? I have backed up my stuff before with the (I'm assuming) Nokia provided backup tool to the SD card. I even copied that to my comp just in case.
Is that good enough or is there a better one floating out in the repos?

The built-in backup has always been good enough for me - you should be aware that it doesn't backup the apps in their entirity, merely keeps a list of what you've got installed so on restore it can download the latest versions from the repos. It does, obviously, store your calendars, messages and settings on the card if you slect those options. There is an app called backup menu which backs up the whole OS, but that could be rather counter productive in this instance...

Nice, 35 megs free on the rootfs - do an apt-get upgrade and a few minutes later 'no space left on device'. Sort that out and then I get a ton of unmet dependencies and package conflicts. Work through those, then just watching the output scroll by I see tons of warnings about directories that don't exist, about postinst scripts that are borked, about the rootfs being full again...

What a mess. I don't normally say anything bad about Nokia, but really, did they even test the upgrade path on anything other than a pristine PR1.2 install? - I would say not.

ok i fixed the libx1-sgx-img thing i just had to look for same numbers on application manager and uninstall them one by one pain in the az but all the hard work made me realise that im glad i dont own a iphone 4....

I am in CA,USA. I got it in the early morning around 8 AM. and have successfully upgraded to PR 1.3

It's weird. If I go through the bookmark in microB, it directs me here which is exactly what you would see if you go to that link on your desktop.

If I go to store.ovi.com on my N900, it says "Your device is not supported".

This happens because of the Update has its own files system and will replace any setting on the device. Any customisation made will be needed to redone once more.

It doesn't hurt to go back and do it again :)

First uninstall FM-fake and then do it. Otherwise you'll get the error said "Unable to ...blah"

maxximuscool, please specify in your post what files you are talking about because if taken in general this would be WRONG. It could cause unneeded aggravation.

All application settings and additional files like icons stay when updating. These will be wiped with a re-flash though.

If however you went and changed something that was a system file including things like Kernel-Power and changes made to OEM binaries like FMTXD, they will be overwritten by the upgrade and will need to be changed back again....

For me this was the easiest Maemo upgrade that I have ever experienced since OS2007. All customizations and applications were left intact and I only had to replace custom binaries and modules like /usr/sbin/fmtxd and reinstall kernel-power-flasher.

It took about 25 minutes from start to finish including the mods mentioned above.

NO it removes the multiboot. Mine only boots into power kernal now and doesnt give me boot options. But since Nitdroid is on SDCard maybe you need to install only the multiboot as i haven't done it yet.

Device is MUCH snappier after 1.3. No longer do certain actions - like the app manager - lock my N900 up. Looks like IO handling has been much improved. In fact its to the point that I am happy to wait for titan to get the 1.3 kernel version out because right now my N900 is working as well as when I had it oced. Cant wait to see what oced 1.3 will be like.

Havent experienced any of the issues people have mentioned with SMS etc. I upgraded using ovi manager and of course I took a backup via the N900 backup program before installing the update. Then I just restored from that and Roberts your fathers brother.

In India, only update on Maemo 5 and libqtm-messaging. what about the rest compared to 1st post's picture ?

In Indonesia,

Update were available last night, 3 components updated via NSU:
- Maemo 5
- libqtm-messaging
- libqtm-mobility

Multiboot still available, so my NITDroid still available (tested just now).
All mods, nothing is changed.

update was applied while I'm using titan kernel, though after that required to reboot

all apps installed none of them missing,...
So just still don't believe update is so easy like this.

I case needs reflasing,...
I'm downloading full firmware with PR 1.3 now from

So I think PR 1.3 (full firmware) is available globally.

But for partial update via NSU I think It's not fully available globally.

Because Conversations for Maemo 5 wasn't built using
this framework so shoud've been no problem at all.

Although no flash 10.1 in update is still "Big Lack" for many user
(Lot of expectations for this).

Still it's nice update from nokia who has delivered Powerfull Device
with half baked feature,.. LOL:D

it's solved with an update few hours ago.
But not for tweak flash.
