javispedro never got to confirm if it works for N9.
He only had N950 and it def. doesn't work on it.
RX/RDS should work on both...

I had the same problem on the first day I got my N9... Tried some stuff messing around with signon and account database files in terminal... Nothing helped, instead, even other services stopped working... I ended up doing a hard-reset (Clear device)... since then (was a week ago) everything is working fine in that regards...

not really a dev, just a geek. The N9 obviously has a different OS so Im not sure what I can do. The N9 doesnt feel so open but its much more polished. :D still got 2 N900s, selling 1 though.. I just installed fennec thru filebox.

Is there a backup facility built into the device? if so is there an option to store and sync this into some magical online cloud?

Is it me or is it totally f… up that voice control will not come to N9. :-(

Is is possible that some dev can make an app? Something like Siri would be great :-)

Have no idea whether it is possible or not, but would be great.

Got my N9 3 days ago, love it. Just hope more Symbian things will come, like speed cams warnings in Maps.

Ok I said it too early. Syncronization does not work correctly. N9 syncs only contacts that was added to N9. Contacts coming from MfE are not synced with bluetooth...:(

Yup, and here's the project page...
http://simon-listens.org/index.php?id=122&L=1
It may always be a few steps behind Siri.
But nice to know there's a F/OSS option out there.

Juuso the fMobi developer has confirmed that he still plans to release a client for Harmattan soon.
http://jiikoo.com/fmobi/#comment-336558591
And N9-apps will launch in a few more days.
Mikael confirmed via email to me earlier.

I got the viewer back. From the dev repositories I needed to install packages office-tools and calligra-kchart. Following link has instructions to use apt-get for the dev repos instead of downloading and installing .deb files manually.

What comes to x forwarding from n9, the file /etc/ssh/sshd_config has a row:

Code:

X11Forwarding yes
Which of course would indicate the possibility of x forwarding. I do not know if some of my settings are not right, but trying the standard x forwarding commands resulted the x window opening in the host (n9) and not in the client (my desktop from which I was sshing into the phone). Which of course is slightly peculiar.

Anyway, if someone is playing with developer mode, I recommend reading following:

http://www.basshero.org/blog/113/nok...e-ssh-security

For some reason I was not able to ssh into the device over 3g, only via usb cable.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

Hi,

Happy owner of the N9 for a week, except for one problem which appeared yesterday. I enabled developer mode and installed all the extras it offered me; ever since then my idle battery usage has skyrocketed.

Screen brightness on lowest, timeout of 30s, closing all apps before I stop using the phone etc - I used to get approximately 20mA avg. idle consumption. Now it's between 55 and 70mA; and today the battery has almost completely drained with 1h 20min active use taking 39% and 12h of idle taking the remaining 61%. When looking in the battery monitor application, 7% of the idle battery drain comes from processor usage, the remaining 93% from "other hardware and services".

Does anyone have any idea what could cause it? I tried turning developer mode off, but it's to no avail.

Slightly related, when is the first large update for the N9 scheduled for release?

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

Yeah my idle is insane too, dont know if that was because I installed developer mode though. I did a reset of my device yesterday in order to see if that fixed my problem with the battery display showing 93% and 97% when full in stead of 100%.

Now Im going to discharge the battery completely and fill it completely while the device is off to see if that helps the battery display.

Problem though: I dont have the stock videos nor the stock wallpapers or the stock music. Dont need the music, but would love it if someone could upload the videos and the wallpapers for me :) .

By the way, as a sidenote: my battery is hopefully better now that I did the reset, as before my Idle was insane as the above poster. My device with a few hours active use would last me a little more than a day.

Re: N9 owners: answer questions & get help!

One sec, I'll upload them somewhere.

EDIT:
The pictures are at wxyz - the videos coming within an hour or so, my upload speed not being the fastest. ;)

EDIT II:
The videos are at wxyz
The wallpapers are at wxyz

EDIT III:
Links removed.

Originally at least, the wallpapers are in a folder called .wallpapers in the user directory of the device, the pictures in the Pictures folder, and the videos in the Movies folder.

I don't got an N9 but I've seen here on tmo that when you enable dev mode it installs and starts ssh-server which is REALLY STUPID! Those guys that want to log in to the phone with ssh should start it themselves because it will suck power as all daemons do. Other than that I can't see why the dev mode should suck more power. But start with stopping ssh-server and see if that helps.

Read Kontorri's explanation about the battery, & why the measurements appear weird.
It was in the comments section of his recent post, about the impending PR1.1.

I saw someone do a break-down/analysis the other day, & moneytree was apparently a big resource sucker.
Use free & top in the console, to get a good idea of what's sucking-up the resources.

Holy crap, I can't believe I am enjoying this phone ;) By the way, exchange is working on my phone. The issue is that it isn't pushing mail in any of my email accounts. I have to refresh them. Anyone know how to enable push?

I left developer mode enabled all night, but only had idle consumption of 15 mA. But I didn't install all the extras of developer mode, only activated it, so got terminal, SDK connect & SSH server.

But I found that disabling Developer Mode also stops the SSH server... So first of all no need to reset the device or such... just disable it and see if power consumption comes down.
