Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
By the way, is there a way to put everything in silent mode? I tried turning every sound off but still when I pressed a button there's a beep sound, not a big issue but it would disrupt music playback when I'm navigating

Well, a silent mode would be useful but let's just focus on the new UI design. Haha

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
thanks a lot for working again in waze :)
if you have time, can you check the foursquare check-in function? |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Where can I find what the color codes for Waze roads mean? I know that red means jammed but what about brown, orange and black? Believe, me I've looked all over for this and even the Waze official site turns up nothing.
Btw, good effort to produce Waze for MeeGo and really appreciate it. |

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
My free time of is up and I am starting to work at Intel today.
As such, I am making a new release of what I have managed to accomplish in the last couple of days and nights. See the first post for more info, changelog and most importatantly - the known issues. N900 users: I am not releasing for the N900 at the moment because for some reason Waze freezes a few seconds after being invoked. I hope to release it for the N900 as well by next weekend. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Good news and bad news.
Good: The N900 issue is also whats causing the "30 seconds start" issue on the N9 which sometimes occur - except that on the N900 it takes a lot more time (like 10 min). So solving the issue for the N900 will also solve it for the N9. Bad: I have not found the source of the issue yet. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
For traffic conditions, presently no other navigation app comes even close. Well worth the wait!

Finally fixed the road shields display (the road number signs) for night mode & AMOLED theme.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
TY for the great effort. ;)
When can we expect a beta version for the N900 ? Will it be possible to install both the 2.4 base version & the beta in the same device ? I cant wait anymore. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Next week there will be a new release codenamed "Coco" and it will the last 0.0.9 release before reaching 0.1.0
I want to fix a few more bugs before the release. This release cannot be installed along side other releases. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
I plead the developer to look into the usage of sound in button presses on Waze because it distrupts music/podcast playback in the background. It should be removed or at least the option to disable it. Thanks

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
I have signed up to be a Beta tester for the Android client. Love finding bugs!

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Apparently the the audio playback fix is too much work to make it to the upcoming release. As such, I will release "Coco" in a couple of days without that fix and the fix will be postponed for the following release.

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
"Coco" is out - see the changelog at the first post.
N900 deb is in Maemo-Extras. N9/N950 deb is pending approval at the apps for meego repository so it should be available in a couple of days. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Thank you very much for this new release, as soon as is avialable I'll start using it and send you the bugs I find :D

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Thank you!
We need to uninstall 0.0.9-45 or we can install coco over this version ? |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
The upgrade to 0.0.10 on N900 was smooth.
The app remember all old setting including old sound files which is a known problem in the android version. Screen look better, buttons are big and clear, and response to touch is a lot faster from old versions. Can't wait to test it on a ride. Hope the new version will navigate us to a better world. :) TY for the effort to make waze available to us. ;) |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Very anxious to try new version. Had to reboot N900 three times today during Waze 0.0.9-30 usage due to loss of data connection and resulting endless loop. Had Android version along side running to get navigation routing and announcements.
Allowed update to 0.0.10 through HAM OTA. Waze displayed in a small window about half the size of the N900 screen. Waze would not go to full screen. Uninstalled and reloaded 0.0.9.30 from dot deb. Later did a complete uninstall of 0.0.9-30 with a complete removal of MyDocs/.waze, and then installed 0.0.10 using FAM. Screen display issue was resolved. Search for addresses and POI works perfectly. Routing, however, still never completes. Data connection disconnect loop seems to be resolved! Big thank you! Anyone else using Waze in US on N900 getting routing to work? |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Had a short trip with waze 0.0.10 on N900, here is my impression:
- The app is much more stable than old version, I didn't have any crash. :) - The possibility to reduce app to background is very useful. - The new look is clear & nice. :) - The ETA line is big & visible all time, waze should copy it. ;) - At last we can see the reports inner text. :D - Next turn icon is big & clear, maybe next to next turn should be one on top of each other. - Speedometer is big & clear, but I would prefer to use it place to enlarge the icons of reports (דווח/דיווחים), speedometer can go to ETA line. - The top line where Waze icons places is a waste of realestate, It can be hide at inner nenu. - Map is blinking from time to time. - Reprts goes to full screen mode randomally. As for the first independent version it is a very good one. Keep the good work, אתה תותח. ;) |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
need a help..
i think my internel gps n network positioning is crashed...not able to connect gps.. i am using cssu on n900 gps is not able connect in any application... pllzzz help |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
update:
- The map blink issue - seem that map blink only in landscape mode. - Sometimes the app open in a small window - rotating the phone twice (landscape-->protrait-->landscape) solved it. - As I Used Waze today I noticed too much space is waste from the height of the map, it could be remove to the sides. Keep it running, Assaf. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950

Regarding the rotate issue, I havnt encountered it... does it occur when you start the application when the phone is rotated? Are you using "force rotate" tweak? Regarding the usability suggestions - I will move the top bar into a popup menu in the next release. The turn by turn takes less place when they are side by side, especially in cases where you have the zoom buttons that become visible above it. The speedometer cannot go next to the ETA region as in portrait mode there will not be enough room for all 4 texts (ETA, remaining time, remaining distance & speed). I'll be thankfull if you can draw a mockup for the portrait & landscape modes of what you had in mind and post it here. I will make it a reality :) |

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Hi there, I just registered here and this my first post - please be patient ;).
I am using an N900 and updated Waze to 0.0.10 a few days ago. Several problems occured as described here such as the "small-window-mode". As described in #382 I uninstalled Waze, deleted the ./waze directory in MyDocs and installed it again, which solved the window-problem (well, nearly - it happened once or twice again). I then was not able to make Samantha talk to me again, even though I had downloaded the German voice after several trials (Waze crashed three or four times before eventually downloading). When navigating, speech was always disabled, and enabling it while Waze was running had no effect. Trying to route without guidance by voice, I noticed my car was moving, but the map on the screen was not , as if I was standing still. So I once again uninstalled, deleted ./waze from MyDocs and now also deleted ./local/share/data/Waze. After installing once again, I now am not able to make Waze work anymore. First thing is the registration-process as a Waze user, and after login Waze is waiting for network, thats it (of course, network is available). In the current state Waze is no longer usable for me what is a pity, as it used to be the best working navigation on my device. I also have Modrana and Marble installed, but they both have other disadvantages that make me want to use Waze instead. |

also you will need to raise the debug level as described in the first post |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Hi Assaf.
I tried to draw my thought - as u can see I'm not good with it. :p Don't take my suggestions as a mockup, it's just an idea - u can do better. :D The main target in my idea is to find space to enlarge the map.itself. Landscape mode: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/2...wlandscape.png Portrait mode : http://img37.imageshack.us/img37/4460/wazeprotrait.png maybe in Portrait mode u should use top & bottom space rather then the side ? I don't know. |

EDIT: There is a postmortem file in ./waze right now, 111 lines in GVim. A fresh crash makes it smaller, I think? Anyway, how shall I post that file here - attach a .txt-file? |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
I am running CSSU/Thumb version and latest waze release. Waze doesnt respect the orientation lock (which is locked to landscape) on my device.
Thanks for this nice software. |

Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Seems to work now. The problem was I was trying to create an account on first run instead of skipping that point. That caused Waze to unsuccessfully search for network.
By skipping, Waze was trying to download my language files. It crashed several times at that point but finally made it. Waze still didn't talk to me until I raised the debug level as mentioned. Next time driving I will test the installation under serious conditions. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
Sorry, I've been too quick talking about success.
In fact, Waze does not work at all - who knows why it did once yesterday. I tried it this morning when going to work: - no voice guiding - rerouting every ten seconds - showing nonsense on the map My only idea is to once again start from zero tonight or go back to the working version before the update if I find it anywhere. |
Re: [Announce] Waze for N900/N9/N950
just asking: is it possible to import real-time traffic condition from other source? For example, the data about the traffic of
some main streets in Italy, are updated every 10 minutes, and are available under a CCZero licence in a xml file (http://www.opendata.provincia.roma.i...2-e72c9767f471) for example using feed the waze? http://feedthe.waze.hu/ but the reports should be updated every 10 mins...and change for example from heavy traffic to light...depending on the average speed mesured on that roads... |
