Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Are you sure that is your output? It doesn't state the firmware version of your phone...
Can your phone boot up? If yes, can you go to Settings->About Product then give me the "Version" string... |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
CHOKRIMAATOUK,
Unfortunately, I think your flash memory is spoilt and you'll have to ask Nokia Care to replace it... |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Very sad to hear this especially there is no Nokia Care in Tunisia, I even wrote one time before to them complaining not to be on board here in Tunisia. Also I had brought my handset not a long time ago from an expatiate friend working in Oman.
If any buddy can help I will be very thankful or I should forget about my N9. For your information, there was not any clear cause had made my N9 to enter in an infinite reboot loop. I remember that the battery was only completely discharged but nothing done at all except that. Sincerely |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hi CHOKRIMAATOUK,
You may want to try a full flash of rootfs+emmc although I am doubtful it would help. If it does indeed help it would really be a good thing as I understand your pain. If you need to send it to Nokia Care what you can is call the Nokia Care Centre directly in Oman and inform them you have this device that a friend helped you purchase as your country didn't have it. Now it has its flash memory screwed and you need them to repair it. They would give you their address and if you mail it to them they'll usually fix it and mail it back to you... At least that's better than having to bin the device :) |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hi All,
I am looking for help here after trying many things myself reading posts here and Meego forum. Let me explain this issue briefly. I have N9 64GB Black bought from Poland, I used it for 4 months. Initially on original fw then I changed variant code from Central Europe(059J1V8) to India(059J236),Even though N9 was never officially released here navifirm had firmware files. I know some people say changing variant code was not required , I did it via nemesis suite. It worked also. After that I flashed Indian FW and emmc. I was able to use phone without any issues. In fact I flashed it with same Indian fw+emmc 3-4 times due to issues with nitdroid. Phone was working perfectly well. Then I decided to sell it and that's where all issues started. I sold it to one guy, who also has one N9 earlier with him. Now he says that he always had problem of SIM error. He thought his SIM was faulty so he waited to get proper microSIM from operator. After getting proper microSIM, he tried that also which failed again. He checked with friend's microSIM and same error. Their SIM cards worked without any issues in other phones. This all he told me after whole 1 month I sold to him. I tried to tell him to flash phone again but nothing helped. Now this guy wants his money back saying that phone was faulty when I sold him. Which is definitely not the case. Phone was working with me perfectly. I have offered him help by trying to fix it myself. I got phone today and found that my problem is related to flashing of cmt thing. I found few threads on TMO as well as Meego forums but I am still unable to fix it by following instructions. I am referring to following threads. http://forum.meego.com/showthread.php?t=4728&page=22 http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=82314&page=3 Phone is working with wifi, bluetooth, only cellular network seems to be dead. In flashing progress I get following [f] cmt-mcusw [finishing 0 % 6050 / 6050 kB 3356 kB/s] It doesnt finish and fails. Please suggest me some path forward. I am thinking of checking whether this is hardware or software isssue. I guess I can test that by nitdroid. Right? If cellular network works in android then hardware reason can be safely eliminated. Please , Please , Please help me with suggestions. This issue has become kind of serious for me as that guys is doubting my honesty. I need all help from community. If you need any information, details please let me know. |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Also I noted that Nemesis Suite is not able to change or even read product information now. I am not able to change mode to Test or Local.
This may not be relevant but I just wanted to mention as I had done variant code change via nemesis. |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
I'm confused, where it says 'replace main.bin and emmc.bin in the commands with the actual names of the image files you are flashing', does this mean I replace them with both file names? So replace 'main.bin' with 'DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_003-OEM1-958_ARN.bin DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.13-7.PRC_EMMC_PRC.bin'
Do I put both with a space inbetween them like above? |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
@Callum You can either rename DFL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.21-3_PR_LEGACY_003-OEM1-958_ARN.bin file to main.bin AND FL61_HARMATTAN_40.2012.13-7.PRC_EMMC_PRC.bin to emmc.bin and use same commands. Please note that there are 2 commands.
first is flasher -f -F main.bin Following by (This is optional, only if you want to get content loaded like videos, music, maps data and few other things) which comes with new factory condition phone flasher -f -F main.bin -F emmc.bin --flash-only=mmc |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Hi all. Need some help please.
My N9 switched off after an incoming call with a very low battery level. I plugged it into the original charger but it wouldn't turn on. I've tried holding power for some 10 seconds (many times). The white led either stays on for approx. a minute and then goes off or blinks and then goes off too (never fades in and out like it used to do). I once managed to get 'nokia' displayed but it stayed there for some 10 minutes with no sign of life. NSU doesn't see the phone. Flasher -i does show the FW info some 45 seconds after I plug the phone but it still happens while the white led is on. Once it's off, neither -i nor -f work (waiting for the phone). My concern is that the device it only 'up' for a minute and then goes down so flasher will lose it soon after it starts. Or should I not be worried? I only have Win7 (might be able to find a *nix in the office). Never tried Nitdroid or open mode, just inception+aegisctrl were installed about a week ago (a couple of planned reboots after that) and N9Qtweak with apkenv and a browser mod. Any piece of advice on what to try next is highly appreciated. |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
jorge,
What you can do is type flasher -f -F rootfs.bin in cmd and when the suitable device/phonenet not found message appears to plug in your phone... Now here you have to be extra cautious as flasher will say unable to flash due to battery being insufficient... 11% is the bare minimum required to start a flash so once you see its charged till 9-10%, you plug out your device and connect to a wall plug for at least 30minutes before attempting to switch it on etc... Once the above is done your phone should charge normally and work as before without having had to conduct a flash... |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
suyog,
I'm not very sure about your issue but if you are to use the --erase-user-data=secure flag AFAIK you should be including both the rootfs.bin and emmc.bin i.e. flasher -f -F rootfs.bin -F emmc.bin --erase-user-data=secure Maybe do that and see if your hardware is being detected... Someone else with more knowledge of this should advice on what else should be done if its just a software issue... |

Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
Yep, I got it, thanks. Had the flasher show battery percentage once but then decided to abort and switch to a more powerful USB port. It did't go beyond that but when I switched it back it immeidately showed "12%, continuing":)
Well, I now know how to flash:) It ended up too quickly though but I do see the 'Updating SW release. Success' line. On a side note, flasher is open source, isn't it? Is it not possible to come up with a 'charger' tool that doesn't require a gigabyte image and cannot reflash if you only want to charge? Or is this situation too rare? Even if it is rare, I think it would be useful to add this procedure description to the first post in this thread for dummies like me. (Of course, the first thing I myself would answer would be 'do it, people will thank you!':) ) |
Re: [HOWTO] Comprehensive Firmware Flashing Guide for N9
I thought flasher wasn't open source :)

But now I am facing issues exactly like @jorge. N9's battery was down and it switched off at end of the day. Then I plugged it in wall USB charger which comes with N9. No luck , it won't charge or turn on at all. No LED while plugged to AC Mains. If I plug in to my laptop USB, LED blinks for a while and then goes off. It even vibrates but nothing happens after that. I tried to check battery level by trying to run flasher and it says 0% but flasher detects it. I will try to keep it plugged in to laptop overnight and see if that helps. I am not sure if all issues are hardware related or software but when I owned same N9 for over 3 months , I never faced anything like this. Even my earlier N9 16GB also never had any hardware issue. I will be grateful if anyone in this forum from Poland can check in local Nokia care if they provide service as my N9 is from Poland. I wanted to know if Nokia Care in Poland demands proof of purchase/Bill to get phone serviced by them. If that is possible I am willing to send it all the way to Poland. |
