you can only adjust the opp for 1000mhz, not the lower speeds

Are you implying that the actual voltage is the one given by the dyn_nominal variable? From what I've read that's not the case, dyn_nominal is the voltage at which SmartReflex starts a new round of calibration and lowers from there if possible. The idea is that dyn_nominal is a stable voltage for that particular chip in all conditions, including after deterioration due to aging and at high temperature.

I can't actually set the voltage lower than the default calib voltage, so if I'm right undervolting is not possible, in fact, at least not with the current method.

It all depends on silicon everyone is going to have different results it's like a lottery of who has the better silicon chip!

Sorry I meant that if I try to set the voltage lower than the default (1.1875 V for me) it doesn't have any effect, the voltage will stay at the default. I think it's the same issue discussed here. Stability at a low voltage would be an other matter.

I've been using the module for a few days now. I can say that it's well worth a donation.

In my experience, foreign currency conversion fees are normally along the lines of 3%, not 3 EUR. On a donation of a few euros, the fee shouldn't be noticeable.

(I wonder if fears of currency conversion fees are the reason INCEPTION donations have been rather limited...)

opps sorry, I don't know why I wrote that. I am getting mixed up. I updated the previous post you're referring to. You're correct on both things - *something* is blocking us from lowering the voltage further, and we probably shouldn't anyways. I'll try and fix it though, I must have some other bugs in the module I didn't realize. Thanks!

Re: overclocking kernel modules for PR1.2 [v1.4]

Running at 1300mhz and 1325000 voltage for awhile now, battery consumption is higher, but things are so quick. I'm still working on finding the sweet spot.

Maj3stic 2012-04-25 17:12

Re: overclocking kernel modules for PR1.2 [v1.4]

My sweet spot is 1300 mhz with the default voltage, 1375000, battery consumption is about the same for me and everything is so smooth and quick! Just did a minimal stress test of 25apps which included angry bird with magic and actioncam. It was so smooth switching between everything no lag in site.

1375000 is your default voltage? Mine is 1225000.

Just got my first random reboot. Going back to 1200mhz.

Edit: Going back down to 1100mhz. Seems to be the sweet spot at stock voltage.

Been running mine at 1.3 ghz in nitdroid for 3 days without any reboots or any other problem. I'm on version 1.3.
before that 3days in Harmattan at 1.3ghz without any problems whatsoever.

Haven't touched the voltage at all.

[QUOTE=Creamy Goodness;1197253]https://www.wepay.com/donations/n9-a...reamy-goodness

thanks :)

It's a lot of work, and no way I can put this in the store, so I will accept donations...
I finished the UI, it could use some more warning messages, like a confirmation before setting a high rate or voltage, but no major problems are left. I am trying to fix something in the kernel module though, I wanted it to return to the default voltage when you don't supply one. Can't get it to work though. I really want to fix that before releasing, as updating the kernel module requires a full reboot and is a pain. The UI isn't working perfectly without this either, since if you disable 'custom voltage' and save it doesn't go back to normal. Anyways, if you guys don't care about that stuff you can donate and I will send you the 99% working 'beta' version by email. I'll give you another option if you're not able to donate, simply join #inception on irc.freenode.net and message me (CreamyG31337). If you send your email I will send it there, or just stay online if you don't want to give me the address. Either way, I won't be home for a few hours, so don't expect instant delivery. I'll try to spend a few hours tonight or tomorrow to fix these last problems before releasing a 100% working version here. Thanks for your patience.

Do you have paypal donations? If not, no big deal. Just my preferred method. Again thanks for your work. This phone gets better by the month :)

yeah you can try this:

Paypal donate link

thanks :)

Btw I made some good progress today:
The symsearch module can now be unloaded so updating is easier. I added a warning screen to the UI that appears if you enter dangerously high values, just to make sure you don't do anything stupid by accident. I also fixed the problem with the voltage not returning to normal when you don't enter a custom voltage.
I only have one more thing to do before releasing this, I need to run the stability test in a separate thread so it doesn't prompt you to close the app when it's busy.

I just sent out the latest build to everyone that donated, and a few others that just asked nicely. Hopefully my beta testers don't find any more problems! If you want the beta too, feel free to pm me here or on irc, don't post your email in the thread.

Changelog for opptimizer looks pretty good , it seems it will raise the max voltage to 1425000 if I'm not wrong . I just saw these 2 lines :

if (u_volt_req >= 1425000){
226 u_volt_req = 1425000;//max for now

The latest version was compiled from that source, so once you get the beta version or the public released one in a few hours you can try it. If your phone catches fire let me know and I will remove those voltages again :)

There is a step every 12500, if you're using the UI try the landscape view so the slider is longer and easier to choose.

Re: overclocking kernel modules for PR1.2 [v1.4]

My device acts weird at similar frequencies . Here's what I tested so far and results , I want to know if someone else is getting this .
I also turned on SR but results are same

1. 1350mhz - 1.3875v : stable
2. 1360mhz - 1.3875v : stable
3. 1370mhz - 1.3875v : extreme lag and freezes , device is inoperable
4. 1370mhz - 1.4v : same as point 3
5. 1370mhz - 1.4125 : same 3
6. 1370mhz - 1.4250 : same

And every frequency above 1370mhz makes the device inoperable , no matters what voltage or sr .

I see an improvement in conky with this new opptimizer , now I'm not seeing anymore only max frequency , the frequency goes also to 300 or 600mhz .

Donated. Thanks for the effort, and I really appreciate making a GUI as well. Sharing is caring :)

I've been using 1.3 GHz stable on my N9, haven't yet reached for the limit.

Probably the CPU is slowing itself down due to overheating, we will need some more reports and research to be sure.

Apply on startup is tricky, we need another script or daemon and it needs to be very careful to not apply the same frequency and voltage 2x in a row if you get an unexpected reboot, otherwise you can get a brick (you would need to reflash but if we apply the bad settings too early you might not be able). To avoid leaving this in development another week, the initial version will not have this feature.
