Did i missed something ?

The default repositories of MeeCatalog have changed (from MeeGo COBS repositories are down since May 2013) to openrepos.net.

Follow the instructions (SETUP REPO ON DEVICE) :
http://www.who.is.free.fr/wiki/doku.php?id=harmattan
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...Catalog&page=4

Then refresh MeeCatalog to see Easy Debian, etc.

Thanks, I've updated the 1st post citing the new Harmattan Share Repo.

If you have that just do

Code:

aegis-dpkg -i
Where guide says

Code:

/usr/sbin/incept
Or if you have this: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=90951
Just install with clicking .deb file and switch trusted when it asks. :)

how to include "Harmattan Share Repo" (from rzr)?

Thanks, Mikkosssss.

To everybody who have sent PM's to me : I haven't installed aegis-hack at all, so I can't answer issues related to aegis-hack.

1. Here is the package for those who have aegis-hack by coderus instead of inception (I just removed dependency and repacked the package). Use it for B-4 step here (you still need to have opensh and aegisctl installed).
2. anybody succeed typing with russian (or another utf-8) layout? My Harmattan's locale is en_GB, debian's locale is en_GB too. In LXDE I can type text only in English, when I swipe to russian layout and try to type anything nothing happens. Any ideas?

May I ask you if this is still actively developed?
Sorry, I'm kinda new to N9! ;)

Re: [Announce] Easy Debian for MeeGo Harmattan : now with translucent VKB on PR1.3 !

The last development was in above post (#373), by zxcvbnm3230, targetting users with aegis-hack. The first post shows Easy Debian for Inception and cites the open-mode version (in post #154).

About the todo/wish list of new features in 1st post, it is not my priority because nobody asks those features and I have many other projects for Sailfish, MeeGo Harmattan and Maemo 4/5 asking for my time.

Other development is about new Debian images, adding to many options listed in post #137. For example, armhf Debian images, like the sulu's one (see posts between #3053 and #3082 of the topic "Easy Debian Fremantle Beta Testing") which I haven't yet tested, but I plan to test it on Nokia N9.

what about easy debian for Sailfish?
Would that even be achievable since Sailfish is RPM?

Sailfish has chroot working without any need of Inception/open mode kernel/etc. So some ARM images work with chroot on Sailfish without any problems, but only with text interface, with no graphical user interface. Because usually Debian/etc/ ARM images need X11 which is not available in Sailfish.

As Wayland becomes an option (or even default) for some Linux distributions, or XWayland is ported to Sailfish, then it would be possible to try to have Easy Debian, Easy Fedora on Sailfish OS.

Re: [Announce] Easy Debian for MeeGo Harmattan : now with translucent VKB on PR1.3 !

I'm a little confused. The opensh download page says that opensh causes malfunction in secure mode. They recommend a patched open mode kernel instead.

1. Does it mean that if I run opensh on an openmode kernel everything will be alright?
2. If we need passwordless root, why don't we use /etc/sudoers?

How to install deb file?

That DEB file, nope, you cannot install it.
The link you give points to intel-x86 version, when you install binary packets in Easy Debian they of course have to be arm version.

Just a guess (I've never seen an N950 in real life):
On the N900 copying the folder /usr/share/X11/xkb from Maemo into the image fixes the keyboard in Easy Debian. Maybe that works on the N950 too.

What does "i can t run it" mean? Any Error messages popping up?
What outputs do you see if you start it from a terminal?

Your package cache is outdated. Run apt-get update and try again!

btw: Please remove debian-multimedia from your sources.list, unless you're ok to potentially receive "updates" from a ukranian motorcycle club.

I removed the panel of LXDE by mistake and now it is never shown in the three apps (LXDE opVKB, LXDE noVKB and Debian LXDE), how to restore it?
Second question: When I try to install an app through Synaptic I get a page where there is no (apply) button (as shown in the attached image) and it seems that it is related to the size of the page because when minimizing to the multitasks it shows the (apply) and (cancel) buttons.
Edit: Restored the panel but the second question is still out of solution.

to answer #1 - complete removal and re-installation of easy deb would be the easy way.
to answer #2 - not sure of that one ...I think asking qole, sulu or any of the other alt. os guru's would net you an answer and working solution.

Thanks for advice but isn't it this thread where one can ask about easy debian issues or there is another way to ask? I don't know how to contact with developers directly and believe the normal way is to ask in their threads and they will see and answer.

endsormeans 2015-07-24 16:37

Re: [Announce] Easy Debian for MeeGo Harmattan : now with translucent VKB on PR1.3 !

Weeelllll,
sometimes developers check out the threads...
but they tend not to hover over them...(so to speak)..expecting that they need to help people.
It is possible you may or may not get a prompt and speedy answer from any developer.
You may get an answer from someone who has had similar problems and knows a fix...
You may also wait a very short time or a long time for the right person to notice you've posted.
It really depends.
You could wait a bit...a day...a few days...a week ...which is acceptable..
longer than that I'd start considering pm-ing ...
or ...
better still ...
head over to #maemo at freenode and ask real-time.
Very very good chance someone there will have an answer...or perhaps a developer will be online at that exact time and may have a moment or two to look at the problem you are having.

Re: [Announce] Easy Debian for MeeGo Harmattan : now with translucent VKB on PR1.3 !

Thanks again. May be they are focusing now on Sailfish and ignoring Meego queries because I see in openrepos that nearly all added software for sailfish.

endsormeans 2015-07-24 17:03

Re: [Announce] Easy Debian for MeeGo Harmattan : now with translucent VKB on PR1.3 !

actually ...I just remem. there is a harmattan section of #maemo ...to address that specific platform...that is the place you want to go to.

Hm...as far as what is being focused on...I'm an unrepentant maemoer ...never ventured into meego nor sailfish ..so I couldn't tell you what's what there. Others far more wise than I in such worldly-wonders could..
Me ...I'm just a provincial-boy... the proverbial country-maemoan :D

Better to uninstall it. It is useless without help. Tried to install more apps but failed, always dependencies problems. It is now just an office application and does not deserve 2 Gb of storage.
