Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Hi,

I just rebuilt the patch mentionned on the 1st post using scratchbox ...

cat /proc/version

Linux version 2.6.32.61-dfl61-0~rzr1 (root@) (gcc version 4.4.1 ('cs2009q3-hard-67-sb16') ) #1 PREEMPT Sat Aug 9 11:49:29 CEST 2014

dpkg -S /boot/zImage-d-2.6.32.61-dfl61-0~rzr1

kernel-plus-d: /boot/zImage-d-2.6.32.61-dfl61-0~rzr1

This is a debug kernel , unsure you care about it

I tested it on n950 , I'd like it to be tested on n9 and odd configurations ...

then I plan to upload those debs to openrepos would it help ?

You will have problems to install unrestricted system ui with active rzr you Mohammad repositories active. Before install this you have to delete this repository s in warehouse.
After install unrestricted system ui you can activate this repository again

so we have to disable rzr repos or mohammad repos??

Very good idea, I think.

For me it worked. Find this information in the N9QTweak pdf i think

Sure, go right ahead. I'd prefer that you build ordinary kernels without full debug info though - kernels with full debug info should probably be called kernel-plus-debug.

The N950 config should work fine for the N9 too.

As for the installation, you'd probably want to [1] check if Ubiboot exists and [2] sed kernel-plus's config into ubiboot.conf

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Just managed to run my phone in an endless startup loop, so flashing was inevidable.
I installed kerel plus from the sticky post, works great (!!!).
And, a funny thing happend - my Maps application tharted showing Tripadvisor hints on POI and nearby. LoL. All this time I thought it's not implemented in N9

BTW, erm...no PPTP support on that distro??

Surely that has nothing to do with you enabling Kernel+?

Hehe, it's not likely that any kernel has anything to do with it, but it did happen :D

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Tried to setup PPTP but on firing up it says, no generic_ppp kernel module. Somehow I was hoping that it's compiled inline ;)

Actually I'm getting confused with all these kernel versions. Which is the best? :)

While interesting, I think this'll be left as a side/alternative project, as I intend to only support Harmattan. If someone can diff the patches for the NITDroid kernel though, I can probably leave it as an optional component.

Now here's a late reply ;)
Have you actually tried to use PPTP?

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Ok, next question:
Is there any other way to use the (apparently) built in Opptimizer module on this kernel, without an UI?

pishta74 2015-01-06 23:49

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Tried to install the UI without anything else (except that it runs the kernel plus r6), but it says that I lack dependencies.
Searching... ;)

Sure thing, generally control of all kernel modules is "standardized" in such a way that the API is usable whether from an UI or scripting from command line :D

Heh, I see now that I probably asked the wrong question :)
HOW do I control the Opptimizer from a console or script? There should be some pseudofile in /proc but which one...? Or...?

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

I revoke my second N9 and also tried to use Opptimizer with this Kernel plus but there seems to be some problems.

I was able to install Opptimizet and is starts to run without any problems, but when I try to click "optimize"- button simply nothing happens.

It has been quite long since I tried this, but to my memory I used the exactly same methid as before. This is exactly how I did it:

Remove everything related to Opptimizer you have installed. Reinstall kernel-plus.

Now, install kernel-plus, and on top of that, install coderus' Opptimizer UI. Modprobe opptimizer. Launch the UI, and it should work.

I am currently running kernel plus through ubiboot in open mode. I received no fails/warnings/error during any of the Opptimizer stuff installations.

I used this core by Coderus http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=227

Then /sbin/modprobe opptimizer

No errors. The opptimizer UI loads, but just simply doesn't do anything. Maybe the core by coderus is outdated? There is 1.4.3 availeble at the opptimizer thread, but I can't use that with power kernel, right?

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

You know, I've been through it just like you. My guess was trying cleaning/purging everything again and reinstalling just once more. It works right now.

Boxeri 2015-04-04 04:52

Re: [Announce] kernel-plus for Harmattan

Okay, have to try again from scratch then. Did you use the core parts made by Coderus that I had linked to my post and did you accept the update proposed by Opptimizer?

jmo707 2015-04-04 12:15

Yes, I used the coderus implementation for kernel-plus, but never accepted the update. The button-which-didn't-buttoned problem was gone after an apt-get remove --purge, reboot, careful examination that I was unsde kernel-power and the mod was listed as available, and just then installed the coderus package after modprobing, and later modprobed again just tu be sure when the UI was installed.
Anecdotally, I never could OC above 1150, while my N900 tolerates perfectly fine that same number (being from factory clocked at 600...)

Which version of aircrack-ng should we use with this kernel?
That one?
