Nooo it's good, very good, the more engagement at maemo.org, the better*!
We often severely lacked that back in the Nokia days, there's was often a "big" disconnect.

The screen is too small. We need an upgrade next year. Make a note and Run back to Jolla HQ and report.

Well for the record I wouldn't mind if TMO continues to be the hub for Jolla stuff. :) IMHO, the less fragmented the community is, the better. :)

Why should he make a note? You are AFAIK the only one to complain about screen size so far. Go get a Note 3 knockoff and get it over with.

Because I am a head of the time. Bought note 1 at release day and told you that n9 has to small screen. Evryboday: no I can't handle bigger with one hand. Bought note 3 at release date and told you that jPhone has too small screen. Everybody: no I can't handle bigger...

In one year you have all changed your minds again when jolla release their new epic device:D

Got ya ;)

Can't make it work. Sync tool gives no option to sync anything

First Bluetooth ON and visible on both devices. I paired N900 and Jolla, both trusting each other. Then selected Settings: Connectivity: Transfer & sync from N900. Then New, Next, Send data, Next, Select a device, waited Jolla to appear to list, selected Jolla, Next, Contacts, Next, Finish. Waiting until progress bar is 100%.

Regarding the web app:
On Nokia N9 all favorites are saved to the home screen. And I can open like 10 web pages in separate windows. While the most are still loading I can read the others that are already downloaded. Is it the same on Jolla?

Favorities are saved on second screen of the browser which can be accessed by selecting boxes (number of tabs open is shown inside of boxes) at the middle of bottom bar when it is shown. Not sure about reading others while loading, because it seems that when I change and select another tab it will reload the contents of that tab.

Small question: Is Facebook IM integrated, and if so, does it automatically create contacts for ALL your FB friends (which I found annoying with the n900) - if so I can as well migrate all contacts but if it doesn't I'd actually transfer my contacts by hand so I can sort out all those FB friends I never have any contact with anyway.

Same, but I don't see any one (or more) entities supporting it anywhere near as strongly as they would their own "baby", we've already seen that so far, despite attempts to remedy it.
I favour something centred around merproject.org (or thereabouts), a domain that encompasses all the newest gen. stacks, & is something all the players are more likely to get on-board with.
They can of course continue to toss the occasional chip (like they have rarely done) to HFB/HFC/maemo.org...

And then please run:

Code:

lspci -k
lsmod
lsub

Edit: Why those packages are not included by default in the "development mode", they are very basic diagnostic tools? :)
Edit2: usbutils

"pkcon search file lspci" doesn't return any package and "pkcon install pciutils" says that there isn't package like that.

lsmod:

mysatroker 57477 2

How does the screen look? Is it nice to look at, are colors natural or oversaturated? How come you can't change font size, that is a definite minus.

Well, if you are "a head of time," you'd know that big screened phones will hit the ceiling and start going back down in size. The old days will come back when companies start competing again on who makes a smaller phone. Think of the big screened phones as a helium filled balloon that has just been pumped up. It will hit the ceiling fast, but will drop exhausted back down on the ground.

Do you really expect people to carry phones the size of wall radiators on their backs in the near future?

Colors and screen are very bright. Like watching it. Many pictures like Baby flower ambiance look gorgeous. In pictures I took inside with the camera app colors seem natural, at least for my eye.

Resolution works but I would have prefered little more PPIs. For example in some cases fonts seem little odd because font outlines don't seem stable (same pentip width for the whole glyph) but you will get used to it.

I miss the always displayed clock on N9 (lock screen).

You are so wrong. The Old days wont come back! The screens will be even bigger...but the phone might not...But this is not the thread to talk about it. Jolla looking good so far.

Phones will be small enough to be put inside your tooth and replace a filling. Displays will go away and we will just wear glasses that display info from the phone. That's how the future will go ;)

No, you will realize that the whole universe is a just part of a huge smartphone hold by gigantic creatures and since universe expanding. The phone and screen will increase forever.

Yes. You will be happy with the phone, especially the Jolla People app. It moves constantly like Windows live tiles when in multitasking mode. The browser also displays tabs in a similar way to IE on Windows phone though the Jolla browser has a much better UI

Tabs reloading? That's the most annoying thing I have ever experienced on a gadget.

:)

Not sure if this was answered above, but it must be because of Mer's policy of avoiding GPLv3 packages for some core components. Bash 3.2 must be GPLv2, while he newest Bash is GPLv3. This policy is used to make it attractive for the vendors who are scared of GPLv3 anti Tivoisation clauses. However the assumption that all vendors are scared isn't correct, so Jolla for example shouldn't be scared in their own release of Sailfish, PlasmaActive isn't scared either, and so on.

This should be a feature in Mer, to allow using GPLv3 set of newer packages. Feel free to file a feature request to Mer.

Yes the OS is at beta stage as said by Jolla themselves. Doesn't mean IT isn't ready to prime time.

If Jolla can accomplish the one update every month, IT will be the fastest In terms of updates.
