Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Happy birthday Kieron :)

So MPD still have a few more deliveries - not all sorted yet?

Ninja any news on your return? :) - still hoping you get it before the end of the week!!

@Bigade - That's vodafone selling it directly. Effectivly MPD have got a contract SIM and put it in the phone :)
You will notice the vodafone support and account pages will not recognise the N900 as a phone yet though :) - they will do from January :)

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

For what it's worth, I spoke to them on the third, and was told 'by all means place an order, but we expect it to go out late next week, since there's a backlog'.

It duly arrived the following Friday (11th).

Oh, and it seems they label the order 'Ready for Despatch' as soon as the box is in the door, rather than when they actually get around to packing it for shipment.

Anyway, quite happy with them here, since they delivered what and when they said they would.

Ninja - No way! - thats terrible news, hopefully you will be sorted for the start of next week? Fingers crossed for you...
Those on a t-mobile contract, download speeds are just great so don't be tempted to switch.
Hang in there people, it is worth the wait..

Hey Guys- Oh it is nice to get your support on here- thanks ;)

Ok here's the latest.
I posted mine back on Monday and checked about an hour ago with the PO . It had been delivered- so got on the phone to MPD to see if they could find it. They did.
Apparently they are expecting more N900 stock this friday, so I should have my new device Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Of course there's no Status to check now so I'll either have to wait for an email (err, no, probably won't bother) or get on the phone again on Monday to see if they've sent it... watch this space. :)

I ordered mine Sat 12th, so am hoping to get one before Christmas. Had double whammy in December, mum died after a short illness :( and being made redundant after 26 years employment , so need something to look forward to :). Before Christmas would be nice! Youngest son keen to do unboxing and review on youtube as kktechguy, so I MAY see it before it gets broken

Still at the "More Info Sent" stage, anyone else got the voda contract through MPD. Just wondering how long it takes from sending the info, the them actually getting onto the next stage. Should never have ordered this close to xmas.

Did they not ask you to send more info? Apparently driving licence or passport copy is a requirement of them. My credit is top notch too so i dont expect it to be that

Mine did exactly the same within 24 hours, and I don't have a good credit history.

Just spoke to returns dept at MPD and surprise surprise my phone has NOT been sent as per the email sent two days ago.

I have started the contract on the 9th and will be the 19th (sat) or the monday (21st) before i can get the actual replacement handset.

I've just this minute been told by an MPD that some of the phones being sent are for orders placed in september... and that mine was due in a stock package of 30 due to be sent out on friday. Its Obvious everyone there hasn't got a ******* clue whats going on.

I sent mine back on the 10th dec, same day i picked it up from the RM depot 12 miles away cos the guy delivering didn't bother his arse to ring the doorbell. Clearly, though, the email is as much shite as they talk on the phone.

I'm about to go absolutley spare, its going to have been over a month since i ordered, and was told at that time the phone would be OUT ON THE 24TH - 25TH NOVEMBER.

Nope nothing mate, didnt have to send a thing? maybe the house you live in has bad credit history? or some of your details were a bit sketchy? are you on the electoral roll register? maybe that could be a reason for needing more info? hope it works out.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Just spoke to a guy. Expected delivery in an hour with more than enough handsets to cover all back logs, all current orders and all orders that will be made over the weekend. He said that they will give each nokia shop upto 30phones which they then have to send out so we are looking early to mid next week apparently??

spunko2010 2009-12-17 12:25

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Received an email about 9.30am this morning from MPD saying my phone had been dispatched. I assume this will now arrive tomorrow - I opted for shipping via RM.

Anyone else in the same boat? Should I actually *expect* delivery tomorrow or will I still be waiting a week today??!

When I go to My Order Tracker on the nokiaretail.co.uk site there are now NO orders there - not even past orders. It also says in the email I received "paid: no". WTF???

I think we need a poll on how many times it takes to successfully ring MPD. Today I think it took 12 redials.

Im glad everyone seems to have or be getting theres what I dont understand is how I preordered mine on the 8th of october all my credit checks and everything else is fine yet im still be fobbed off by mpds call centre, and people on here are saying theyve ordered theirs a couple of weeks ago or whatever and have them. I phoned them last night to ask where this elusive handset was, the fella said it should be in manchester he will check and ring me back, never received a return call. I feel proper mugged off. Oh and to make matters worse the phone im using nows screen has broken, woe is me!!!

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

I've Spoken to them again today and for the SECOND time I've been told that I will recieve it on SATURDAY or MONDAY as the next batch was SUPPOSED to be in on MONDAY 12TH but was delayed and has NOT been recieved at MPD yet...

This is absolute bollocks. I'm getting raped up the arse because I had a faulty phone. It's not my fault. It's not MPD's fault either but they are handling the replacement like a new order, which it is NOT.

I've already had a bill from vodafone and I dont even have the phone.

Also got my termination fee in, £101.26, which would be fine if i could sell my n96 but I can't BECAUSE MPD WONT SEND MY PHONE!

Ordered mine last Sunday at 11pm (crazy moment with my debit card number). I'm not that happy that MPD say A) It will be shipped next day delivery from when you order B) in another place, allow 5 days for deliver C) It definitely won't be here within 5 days of me ordering!

Oh well, at least it means I have a nice Christmas present to myself :D

If you're interested, quidco are currently doing 20% cashback on the N900 direct from nokia, bringing it to £400 sim free and actually posted next day. Not as cheap as some got it for, but still cheaper than any other (not nokia/mpd) shops are offering, and they aren't even expecting stock until january, so it's doubtful there will be a big drop early in the new year. I ordered it on that deal yesterday evening and it was posted today, and the £100 cashback is tracked in quidco. Much better than MPD who refused to honour the T-mobile contract I ordered in september and suggested I get one of their current vodafone contracts, which are £70 more expensive even if you factor in £20 a month for the extra six months you're locked into the contract.
I've also got a 'giffgaff' (O2) PAYG sim which has unlimited free data until may, which is a pretty good deal.

Sorry, seems like the offer is over. When I ordered it on wednesday they were doing double cashback. Nokia seem to have voucher codes relatively often as well as the cashback, some people got 30% off a month or two ago I think, so perhaps they will have some more offers after christmas? I'd keep an eye on quidco/topcashback/hotukdeals if you want to wait till it's cheaper.

EDIT: Incredibly annoyingly I've just found http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/55714...-nokia-shop-uk for a 15% discount. Get that with 10% from quidco. Note that quidco specifically says that it might reject you if you use a voucher code in combination with it. That's what I'm going to tell myself anyway :)
