WelI could be teasing and say that as they were Americans on the phone then maybe they got confused with out Postal code? LOL.

Seem like posts are still moving so they are working through in some weird order known only to themselves (Possibly the order that the carrier pidgeons arrive?).

I expect that the emails go when the packs are loaded onto thepallets and then they all go out to UPS. I suspect it might be depot order that they are dispatched in.

I'mm confused, I just called up Amazon and asked her if they honor the price match guarantee for the n900 and she said that they don't ant the only way that I would receive the new price is by canceleing and reordering.

She then said that They have over 10,000 in stock at this moment and are just waiting for the item to be released, so I would receive it on the same date if I canceled. She told me she could not change the price in my account and that the people who got theirs changed were being promised things they weren't supposed to.

Nokia US is probably covering their butts with a little smoke.

Added:

I also suggest all of the price reductions we are seeing is to offset orders from being canceled. Prices usually do not drop on a new device before launch. They tend to stay closer to retail for the first six months of launch- mainly due to supply issues, since if a success, manufacturers ramp production up then. They are more cautious at launch until they understand the actual SELL TROUGH demand.

The current delay is probably more due to Nokia's poor operational structure to execute a smooth launch rather than huge global demand.

It's probably because they (Nokia management) thought this was just going to be the same as all the rest of the tablets a geek toy but a little bit better, then they started getting hit with the hard reality of how much people liked it and all their low volume plans and any executiives thinking in low volume terms had to be brought around to see the light and it just took a while to get all the ducks ligned up in a row.

I bet you that is what happened. They just totally underestimated the volume of demand and it took a while for them to switch gears and start realizing it is a star product.
Have you ever been in that situation in a company where the executives think they know what they are talking about but they totally don't and they completely screw up your job because they characterize what you are doing as low priority or unimportant?

Then when they finally realize what you got your hands on is important they go into the completely opposite direction and start making a big deal out of it and slow you down with extra unnecessary orders and conditions.
I don't know, I'm just guessing that is what happened here.

Hmm, they have 10,000 in stock and if you cancel and rebuy it now you can still get it (that's good to know that means I may get my n900 from Amazon even though I only re-ordered on the 20th). Though I'm surprised that they only have less then 10,000 pre-orders at the moment. Something smells fishy about that..

But if you look at their pre-order guarantee it says nothing about electronics. So officially their policy doesn't apply to electronics. CSR may be bending the rules (but that's for each individual) or if the problem is bad (e.g. they are losing customers) they may bend the rule. But officially their policy is nope, they don't do it.

I guess you can keep trying till you find the lucky CSR.

I just talked to a CS rep. (Amy) and she claimed they're receiving 5,674 units (her number quote exactly). She "assured" me that the phones have not been received by their distributor. Looks like more crossed wires and more waiting. :(

Which means the people who have multiple pre-orders waiting to cancel one should probably bail on one of them now before they get charged twice.

Also...does anyone know how big of a player BLT is in the wholesaler arena? Do they resell to amazon, newegg, etc. or just to smaller shops and single consumers?

Hmm, I wonder if Amazon has the ability to identify which region you are calling from. I wonder if its Amazon in general that's receiving X amount of units. Or X amount of units is being moved to this warehouse of theirs, and Y amount of units is being moved to another warehouse of theirs.

But it doesn't make sense to have CS lines by region.

They have over 10,000 in stock?? Then what are they waiting for and why are they lying about not having any. And what about the policy of "as soon as we get, we'll start shipping it."?? This a bunch of bs.

If you have pre-ordered from NokiaUSA, give them a call, they claim they're trying to call all people who have pre-ordered. They have changed e-commerce something or other and need to redo the orders. The protection plan is now $49.99, $1 1-3 day shipping, and you can get either the bluetooth headset that was originally included OR %15 discount. Protection plan + shipping + %15 discount + tax for me was around $628. I didn't mind that so much, but 2 of my credit cards were declined (my bank says they're OK) and they refused to try a 3rd one, because after the 3rd decline you get flagged as a fraudulent customer. I told them to cancel everything a shove it, now I have to order from someone else and won't be getting it for a while

A quick update, after my 09/08 pre-order got schruted by NokiaUSA I ordered from Dell on 11/19. I thought i won't be getting the phone for a while because my estimated delivery date was 02/01/2010. To my most pleasant surprise today my order status changed to shipped, accompanied with a tracking number from fedex:D

Amazon.com should start feeling the heat...the N900 is on the "Most active product forums" list and none of the comments are nice. People are starting to get angry...including myself. I have kept a level head about this whole shipping delay thing, but now I'm furious with the way I'm being kept in the dark. I wanted to make sure and have the N900 before my international trip (for 3 weeks) starting Nov. 30th. If it doesn't make it by then, Nokia and Amazon may forever lose a customer.

request to those who pre-ordered from Amazon, and whose CCs have been charged: If its not a problem, can you kindly share with my your Order ID ... I asked her twice if the number she quoted was the amount of pre-orders, or the number of units they would be receiving. Twice she told me that was what they were receiving. Those CS reps know about what we do about this whole issue...nothing. I just wish they could all get on the same page.

Re: N900 shipping delayed

Yet another post about a discussion over chat with Nokia (USA):

Thank you for choosing NokiaUSA. A sales representative will be with you shortly.

You are now chatting with Peter.

You: Hi Peter

Peter: Hello, welcome to Nokia. I am a Nokia Sales Representative, may I assist you finding a device today?

You: I have the N900 on pre-order at amazon.com but they are being really vague about its release date, do you have a confirmed release?

You: I see that you have it in stock. But I have also read on many forums that you are not shipping the N900 yet.

Peter: Yes, we have N900 in STOCK and we are SHIPPING it now.

You: Why do I read that no one in the US has received one yet? And I have read this all over the web

Peter: I am sorry to hear that, because customers are already buying it from our Flagship stores and N900 became available in stock this morning.

Peter: So this point onwards, N900 will be shipped via two shipping options.

Peter: Express shipping 1-3 business days for $9.99 or Standard shipping 3-5 business days for $3.99.

You: If I ordered today, would I receive it by Monday, November 30th?

Peter: Yes you will.

You: Who do you ship with?

Peter: We ship via Fedex,

Peter: Excluding holidays, orders placed before 4:00 p.m. EST Monday - Friday will be available to ship before the end of the business day. Orders placed Friday after 4:00 p.m. EST, Saturday or Sunday will be available to ship the following Monday. No deliveries will be made on Saturday or Sunday. We will require a signature for all deliveries.

You: So if I order before 4 pm today, the phone will be shipped today? The shipping began today...aren't there thousands of pre-orders to fill?

Peter: Those as well, and so will yours.

You: Thank you.

Peter: You're welcome.

Now I am torn...has anyone gotten confirmation of shipping through Nokia (USA)?:confused::confused:

I really want the N900 before Nov. 30th, because I will be travelling internationally for 3 weeks.
