Awesome tool it is. In my view after having both the Iphone and 3GS it's much better. Some will disagree my hope is that no one posting on this forum wont!

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Hmm, anyone else having problems tryingto actually use voda? I get the feeling this phone is unlocked.
MPD say on their website regarding returns, and i'll quote.. ". If you intend to return a phone, do not insert a SIM card as this creates user settings that will personalise the phone to you and your network" However apart from the operator name there is no other evidence that I am with voda. I can't even get access to http://live.vodafone.co.uk which does strike me as odd. When I try to register on the voda website to set up my account the details sent to me in an e-mail are wrong. Also it was sent to a spare e-mail address that I didn't even give them. I just happened to look by chance. So who do I go to for help with my bill/account? |

got mine registered on voda as 'other phone' works fine. as they are not selling it themslves for another week, they have little or no services for it. vodafone will setup anything you need via a phone call. they where very good for me. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Thanks I did try to call them but my number port is going through so it's messing up the calls. But I'll try again later. :)

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
well a few weeks on and this device just keeps on impressing. several friends have said they want one after seeing mine in action.
thankfully mine has been more or less rock solid even with various things installed from extra devel and extra testing. it locked up once and dosbox running win3.1 did cause a reboot but i blame that on dosbox. i definately find that im using my laptop alot less since i got this thing. it truely is awesome! happy new year everyone, i hope your hangovers arent as bad as mine. i'm still in bed, only just managed "breakfast" and its 18:30 at the moment! was a good nignt tho ;) |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Hi guys and happy new year.
Just to check your battery charge behaviour. After a full charge mine reaches only 94-95% (whether charged off or on). To check the percentage type in a terminal: lshal | grep battery.charge_level.percentage Is anyone getting more than 95% after a full charge? Cheers |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I'll have a go and let you know.

incase you're interested its quite easy to setup, i just did the install using ddosbox on my laptop then copied the windows directory to the n900 in the directory i mount as c: in dosbox. could in theory do the same with win95 but i cant try it cos i dont have a working set of the install files. hmmm but im sure i have a win98 cd somewhere haha. |

I got my Vodafone N900 from MPD. and it is technically the phone with a sim contract put in the box :) No branding apart from the usual telling you what service you are connected too :) - and i've changed that on mine, so no Vodafone anywhere :) |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
Quick question!
I ordered my N900 on Saturday and it is due to come Tuesday (all being well), so shipped today. I have got an email saying it has been despatched, however it says this under new number/imei etc - $$$SMARTLIFT_PARAM_MOBILE_NUMBER$$$ Has anyone else had that, and if so has it all been ok? I assume their system is just bugged and/or it doesn't apply unless your number has been ported etc. (My number isn't being ported) |

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I ordered my handset just before Christmas and in fairness to MPD it arrived within three working days despite being told online it was in stock then receiving a note saying it was out of stock.
MPD reminds me an awful lot of EBuyer in the UK about 7 years ago. EBuyer got massive all of a sudden, then their phone lines shut off to public callers and they would only deal with people online. After much pressure they re-opened their phone lines, then it could take upwards of an hour for a call to be answered. Eventually they took on more staff and apologised to everyone after being criticised by many online groups and customers in public. MPD's communications leave a lot to be desired, and in an honest email I have told them so. I really think the company can do brilliantly, which is why my email was honest and constructive criticism, not a rant. Shutting off their phone lines as they have done though, with a message to use online chat then pulling the link to this on their website is not the way to behave. When I found the online chat link via this site, I found no-one was there to respond to me. At this point, I have had a total of three emails completely ignored both pre and post ordering my handset; one of them dates to the first week in December. Had I any major problems with the handset, with this state of communication, my next stop would probably be trading standards. All's well that ends well though and with no problems, I can happily say I am enjoying my 900. The one major plus point for not going via the networks is a completely unbranded phone. |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
its 13.48 and still not 1 reboot :D:D:D

Mine has been fine until about 30 mins ago - it had a little blip! Was just using it and the screen went black, wouldnt unlock or anything. Power button did nothing. Whilst in mid panic, about 60 seconds later it just sprang back to life! - all seems well now! :) pheeeeeeeew! |
Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I also see the cheapest tariff is now £35. FINALLY I get rewarded for being an early adopter with a £25 tariff. ( never happened before I usually pay through the nose lol )

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I saw someone on amazon uk selling a new one for £399...got sold quite quickly though! Amazon Marketplace has never given me any problems in the past so finger crossed. I'll post a link if another one pops up.

Re: Mobile Phones Direct N900 Customers
I have news on the email to MPD. They responded thanking me for my constructive feedback and will be passing my comments to their head office. I get the impression their online section is short staffed and the people working there are happy to have an email from a customer reflecting their despair.
