Re: Periodic speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) starring drunk Laughingstok as Chuck Norris -- now with trout!
I think it's obvious here that Nokia need to open up testing of the new firmwares to the community as a whole.
1. Saves them money paying testers 2. Gives them a massive amount of real world testing data 3. Confidence that when they release to the public there will be less bugs. If open source/community works for support and application why can't it be used for the operating system? Or alternatively more in keeping with this thread: http://icanhascheezburger.files.word...ght-is-out.jpg |

Here is why the firmware is late, at least this is part of the reason.

Hehe.. thanks! Credit to @mwkn for the original find. I've not posted in this thread before, but have enjoyed it immensely! I was thinking may be I could do a post with some of the awesome images that people have come up with. But it'll be a task to find them... lets see..
PS: Can't wait for PR 1.2 to come out! ;) |

"So there you have it, yes the firmware is delayed and no we don’t know when it is coming. All we know is that it is coming for sure." How can someone just say that? Does not he have a boss? Did nokia forget about the small detail that they have thousands of customers? I don't want to see my boss face if I tell him that I will have my work done for sure, but that I just don't know when. |

Can't close this thread. It's now like a ball of plasma, it just grows in size and turns everything else into plasma as it moves.

If you cared to read the content of that blog, it seems that they aren't just interested in pushing new features. They want us to be able to use the phone for long periods of time without needing a reboot. They're also doing performance testing to ensure that the speed of the device remains consistent over an uptime of a week or more. From a stability and performance point of view, that means Nokia is pushing PR1.2 towards the level of stability I've experienced in other smartphones. I'm pretty certain you'd want your phone to be stable and fast to show off to your iPhony, beebee and goog-phony friends. For now, relax and enjoy the summer. Have a mai-tai! |

True. But can also be that you don't have any customers left ;)
Focus on QA - Release 2012 :D |

Not communicating with an expectant customer base causes bad feeling. This thread is enough evidence of that. |
Re: Periodic speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2) starring drunk Laughingstok as Chuck Norris -- now with trout!
Also, features in Pr 1.2 will probably be the same in World wide releases as HK release. This means that the features must already been functional tested and performance tested before release to HK. So now what. languages that takes weeks to test?

If this was stressful for you waiting, imagine what its like for the coders and testers dealing with the issue. They're not fixing typos here folks. A test cycle takes more than just a few hours and if they find a problem they have to reproduce it, then they have to diagnose it, fix it, unit test and if all has gone well go through another full cycle. Turnaround on a major issue can easily take a week if they find and fix a problem the first go around, longer if they need to iterate or have multiple issues. Chilax and go do something fun. It'll get here soon enough. |

For God's sake. There are plenty of developers, trying to get the PR 1.2 done, and trying hard every day. Can anyone think if some of you people whining, where the ones working in Nokia. How stressfull would it be?
