Re: Up for some hillbilly music?

Thanks guys!

Jay, I'm still learning the technical aspects but it seems I have an intuitive grasp of mixing and mastering. Maybe we could work out a trade of some sorts-- I could still use another vocalist or 3. :D

Although I have to admit Tony did some of the mixing on this (vocals to instruments).

Well, I'd trade it for the ability to sing again... :(

It took me a while to play and sing lead... but I'll bet following someone is even harder.

Just be glad you don't play jazz. ;)

If you guys like the stuff that Freelance Rider Company (my group) is doing, then I highly recommend you check out Lady Antebellum, especially their new song "Need You Now". Very cool Celtic-flavored Country Rock.

I finally got a fully-functional version of my mastering tool of choice, Ozone 4, and am finalizing songs. I think "Find me gone" (sung by Dan Skarda) is done, pending his approval:

another jam in progress. This one is western rock and not short. ; )

Lyrics not complete, the ending isn't right, and it will be a while before a friend adds a blistering southern-style lead... but you should get the idea. It's an outlaw's lament called "Fair for Me".

EDI: odd... a lot of posts appear to be missing here...?

Re: Up for some hillbilly music?

Another one I wrote and scored this weekend. This one was a lot of fun and I really like how it's turning out:

I have lyrics and just need to find the right vocalist...

Quote:

My Summer Love

Just my luck that I would fall for you
First heart I would find in June
Foolish is as foolish does

My Summer love... my Summer love...

We've only got about a hundred days
Then you and I will go our separate ways
A million hours could never be enough

My Summer love... my Summer love...

People live... in little breaks... between the start and end
Throwing their caution into the breeze
Time and time again...

(instrumental)

Like the waves upon the sea
I hope you will return to me
Time is cruel and we must call its bluff

My Summer love... my Summer love...
My Summer love... my Summer love...
My Summer love... my Summer love...
My Summer love... my Summer love...

Doesn't look there's any more interest here, but just in case, here's another in the works, a waltz in C (still no vocal work):

Quote:

More to you

Woke up this morning, and felt I'd been hit by a wall...
I must have been dreaming, and somehow it seemed,
That I could not make sense of it all
Something just told me to call--

(chorus)
And I'm looking for a way to be something to you
Not a wish, not a chance, not some door you'd go through
If I opened my heart like I don't want to do
Let me be... more to you... more to you...

Stared in my coffee, with all of the life of a stone...
I must have been drifting, and felt the world shift
Like I'm not really on it alone
And then there you are on the phone--

(repeat chorus twice, close)
