Anybody knows if the Google Calendar and Contacts sync works better with the Maemo 5 PR 1.1 firmware from today (jan 14th) ??
Or do we still need to use a 3rd party service like NuevaSync ??

Thanks !

Works better!

I always managed to do the initial sync with calendar and contacts. But after adding or changing events in the server side sync failed forever (until I deleted the MFE account and recreated it again).
I just tested it and updates in the server are updated in the N900 calendar and the sync is successful.
Didn't test it on the contacts though.

Re: N900: Support for Google Calendar and Contacts?

I emailed Nuevasync asking about multi calendar for the n900. This is the convo:

> When will multi calendar support for the n900 come along? I'm down to beta test/provide feedback.
When Nokia adds support to their Mail for Exchange on the N900.
Our service has full support already (for the iPhone), so it only needs their client to have the feature.

Is there a bug or brainstorm available for this? I will promote it like crazy, multi calendar syncing with google would be perfect for myself, and I'm sure a lot of people as well.

For the calendar: give Erminig a try: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=40408

Re: N900: Support for Google Calendar and Contacts?

I had similar problems to other people, i could sync once with Google, and then it would fail.

So deleted the account and it only synced once again.

But when i was looking at the calendar settings i noticed it said in brackets (synchronised PC Suite), so i deleted the calendar and synced with Google and it worked. i then looked at calendar and it only says " synchronised " instead of "synchronised PC Suite" and my calendar and contacts have been syncing ever since.

I what causes the error is if the N900 is plugged in to the computer in PC Suite mode and if the calendar on the phone or the Google Calendar is edited it does not sync.

Summery
If you N900 is not syncing with google for a second time try this
go to calendar
Then settings
Edit calendars
Click N900 (blue) calendar
Then delete

Hope i have helped

Anyone know if contacts sync works now (in the new release) or is it still initial sync only?

Mine has always worked, but it seems to for some people and not for others.

Mine syncs contacts and calendar properly (2-way although I didn't check that for contacts yet)

What I do hate now, is that I only seem to get 1 month of google calendar entries, I really need several months (a year would be great).

Mine only works for the initial contacts sync and then it will fail every time thereafter. However, if I disable the contacts sync and only sync the calendar it will succeed every time... I hope this gets fixed soon.

My calendar and contact sync with google also seems to work normal.
I have it set to "sync every hour" and i didn't notice any problems.

Re: N900: Support for Google Calendar and Contacts?

My calendar and contacts syncs almost perfectly.
The only problem I still have is that the birthdays set in my google contacts are pushed by 1 day on my N900 when after syncing.
