Although i had some misunderstanding with Bratag he's a good guy and a good poster. Maybe sometimes he overreact, but everything you said is pure BS.

If it is then it's BS that's being repeated by several sources, some of whom claim to have the production N900. The idea that it's an Apple conspiracy is laughable. So far, the N900 isn't even a blip on the radar as far as actual sales like, say, the Droid's estimated 100,000 in the first weekend in the US (source: Bloomberg).

The fact of the matter is that the N900 desperately needs the 1.1 OS release. The current version seems to be buggy, which is to be expected in the 1.0 release of any OS, especially when combined with new hardware. This forum could stand to be more sympathetic with detractors if we are going to win them over instead of becoming a tightly knit but inward looking fringe group.

...and many of the statements have been discredited, including by some of us with less mature devices.

Posting complaints in an internet forum is cheap. Reviews on objective, respected technical sites will carry the real weight.

If they released 1.1 too quickly, it wouldn't actually have the improvements you're hoping for. They'd be in 1.2 or later :-)

They can only write, test and polish the code so fast...

Strongly agree. Successful open source needs to work constructively with criticism, and keep welcoming constructive critics so they become participants, not attack them.

True on both counts.

Still, as to your first point, there's an old saying: "the customer is always right." A disgruntled customer can be told how to fix his problem or that his problem exists and is being addressed or even that his problem exists but it can't be fixed. Telling him to sit down and shut up it is not the best way to convince him to stay a customer (not that you, yourself, have done that).

Similarly, there have been reviews on respected technical sites which have been attacked by some as being unobjective because they brought up issues or they committed the cardinal sin of mentioning the iPhone. People need to accept that not every review will yield a 10 out of 10 or even a recommendation. That does not mean the reviewer or the site isn't objective, it means their criteria are different.

I think the reviews, both from users and from sites, have been primarily positive. In the face of those that aren't, I am hopeful that maemo.org can respond in a positive manner.

Multitasking or not... (I would say it IS multitasking)
I have a HTC Touch HD which I have flashed with a Leo (HTC HD2 w/1ghz snapdragon cpu) rom running 6.5. It runs pretty stable... but when opening 3 apps like browser, camera and Cbr reader... it uses 75% ram and begins to get buggy...1 or 2 more apps and it gets so laggy I have problems shutting the apps down. When tryin to "multitask" like that, I pray that no one calls me or I would be in a world of hurt :p

I'm so looking forward to the n900 and to finally own a "phone" with a full qwerty... ever since I saw the Nokia 6800... And no its not a watch ;)

Oh and in the infamous video with the screen tear (not the water running from your eye when getting an iPhone for christmas) I think it might be the wallpaper moving at a different speed than the icons (to give the float effect) tho I must say that I have a hard time seeing it... AND its a FIRST look video...

that or its swamp gas lighting up a hot air balloon giving the effect of light moving very fast over the sky, then hovering over your car just to speed out in to space... :p (sorry ranting... Zzzleepy)

At least we're not the only ones. I took a look at the Droid forum and they have the same kind of posts. I liked the title of one of the newer ones: "This cant seriously be how this phone is supposed to operate."

To paraphrase Barnum, you can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.
