I think you have to enable vodafone mobile connect. I am using the same in chennai and have enabled gprs using vodafone mobile connect. I don't think vodafone live is a gprs connection. For me no issues.

i believe this is how vodafone has meant it to be. vodafone requires you to activate mobile connect if ur to legally use imap/pop email so maybe the same settings apply to the chat client.

no idea, i havent even been able to get thru to their customer care regarding this. perhaps u culd try it ?

when i tried with aircel th prob had frequently broken connections interrupting downloads from the repositiries.

BTW, i hope u all know that having the gprs connection always on will prevent most calls from coming in.. =)

I don't think having gprs always on will prevent the calls. I was using N93 before n900 and my gprs was always on due to the corporate mail app. the gprs will get disabled when u receive a call., I have downloaded many apps through gprs connection., (but not the apps which are in mb's...) i use the wifi at home to download them.

BSNL 3G launch in Hyderabad is definitely good news. I read that BSNL also launched 3G in Bangalore recently.

Has anyone tested BSNL 3G on their N900? How is the bandwidth? Can anyone post the mobile speedtest results?

Nevermind. Just found that Varun already posted about this in the same thread above. 1 MBPS is still decent :) IMO.

Now we just have to wait for that never-ending 3G auction process for private players to kick in.

thats a pity...cos the data plan with mobile connect is so expensive..200pm for just the rent n then download is 10p/10kb (correct me if i am wrong) whereas here i get 500mb in Rs100.
