think about it - the title asks whether people who bought an N900 thought deep down that they've failed when they chose the N900. and this is on a forum where most people will be very (fiercely?) loyal to at least the concept of the N900. it's like divebombing into a pool at a party.

maybe something that is more forward looking?
like "how can the N900 be improved with how it is now?"
sounds like the M6 thread discusses something similar.
or something like "what would be deal breakers for me if I was choosing the N900?"

if people who want to know whether the N900 is good or not can post that, and the N900 fans and fanboys (incl me) can either ignore intentionally provocative threads entirely or integrate them into other non-objective rants, then this place would be way less tense! :D

Very good way of looking at thing. Thanks button for you!

Bought it, then worried that it would auto-brick or batt would be totally useless or I would be spending my days re-flashing it over and over again.

But nope. Best phone I've ever had. And I'm not a developey-type either.

It's snappy (so rare in mobile tech, and I'm addicted to fast GUIs, I hate waiting for anything less than an immediate response), it's thorough (I mean, seriously, Skype and Gtalk are so totally integrated), and the interface is sexy.

I turned portrait mode off when I still had my N97 before we broke up, and I don't use any sat nav anyway, so those weren't issues for me.

BTW you dont normally respond to provocative threads? your history tells me that you only have 3 post ever

In general I am not sorry for buying N900.

The only thing I hope is Nokia to not forget all his trusty N900 users and will give us proper and suitable long-therm sw updates.

Also I hope Maemo 6........

Regards.

A lesson in beating consumer dissonance

For the past week I have been thoroughly annoyed by my N900 and Nokia. Not the N900 as such, yet more Nokia because of their inability to announce a reasonable period where the N900 will be supported. This is also related to Maemo 6.

This is one of the areas we call consumer dissonance. So what is consumer dissonance anyway? It has many names in the marketing world such as Post-Purchase Consumer Dissonance / Regret decision theory, yet is more commonly known as buyers remorse. It is when a customer who has bought a product feels pangs of regret about their purchase and the customer often has to "convince" themselves that their purchase was worthy.

So did / do you suffer it? I did until I took a realistic approach and thought about what I disliked with my N900. The only real problem I have is the lack of games, yet once you take emulation into account.. well.. audios!

I also approached the "apps" craze with a bias because the browser does absolutely everything I would ever want it to. Why do you need 40 programs to accomplish your daily activities when everything is under one program?

Regardless.. to me, my N900 is perfect.

Everyone has his/her own favourite, like why we would like to spend our money on N900 other than an Iphone, even though N900 is not an Iphone-Killer :)). Hope u enjoy your phone !

It's worth every crown and it was really very expensive here in Czech Republic. I should probably buy few more and lock them in safe security locker in bank for worst times. It's amazing piece of technology!

Yes i regret buying this beta device. I am not a developer and would have more use of a new Nokia phone instead of it.

I don't regret getting this phone at all. Mostly cause I got it for free. :D
