Re: Restructuring the forum
It would also be good if we could have a section of "links" to all kind of Linux (non-android) activities for Mobiles, or at least a list of projects.
The only ones I heard about are the ones mentioned in the poll above, but it took me time to navigate and find all of those. For new members... Link section please :) |

For starters, search for each OS and ask yourself if the majority of the results deserve to be in their own subforum or not. |
Re: Restructuring the forum
I'm OK for merging all Mer systems (including Sailifish) into one Mer section, though I still think that having subsections with Mer being the root, and all derivatives with their own ones is neater. There is no point to impose artificial inconveniences when it's so easy to add a subsection.

Re: Restructuring the forum
@Vivainio tweeted this, looks pretty cool as a nextgen forum sw alternative:
http://www.discourse.org Free & F/OSS too it seems. I haven't yet done a in-depth comparison between it & VB though. |

Besides that, the default theme... i dunno. Too much social web 3.0 or whatever it's called; JavaScript-heavy dumbed-down lackluster aesthetics. |

(And yes, it uses JS everywhere, making the N900 blow chunks trying to render the desktop version of sites using Bootstrap) I think it's simply a fancy skin on an imageboard script, with fancy buzzwords like "real time". What's wrong with using simple forum software like phpBB or SMF? |

"and is used by 99% of websites who have absolutely no idea how to make an original design."
Well, I wouldn't call Ville M. Vainio "clueless", & he's the person for whom it originally struck a chord. But yes, I'm sure there's heaps of better alternatives out there, this just popped-up in front of me, so I shared it without any close inspection. |
