Gnumeric can be found here:

my power saving is on max and i have also noticed a tiny more warmth since the update. it doesn't seem to affect the performance, though. the battery life seems about the same. overall it's a bit faster, flash is better, the email app opens in a few seconds instead of a few minutes, and the app manager is better. i have had no compatibility problems with the programs i use.

In Xterm as root run 'apt-get -f install' and say Yes to what the system ask you. That's all.

This has been present in OS2008 since version 50-2. I was hoping this release would fix it however it's still there. I'll probably go back to 44-4, the first 2008 beta release which does not exhibit this behavior on my N800. Since I use the D-pad a lot it's very annoying.

Anyone tried AdBlock? Doesn't work for me. I am able to install it, but I can't subscribe to any lists and ... just doesn't work. Reflashed 2 times, same thing every time.

It's working here. Once it was installed, I was even able to update it to a newer version from within the Components window of MicroB. Don't give up all hope.

MicroB spell check on the other hand, I've had no luck with.

Well, merging MicroB with trunk isn't a "do-it-in-a-day" proposition, it takes time and it takes testing. In a big project like Maemo, major changes to the code are frozen a few months in advance of release to allow for testing and bug fixing, and there simply wasn't a usable Gecko release to merge with before the freeze date.

Simple timing, really. ;)

Well, if you want to go and compile the MicroB svn, all the cool new development for Fremantle will be taking place there (well, for the engine, anyway).

Unless you've magically figured out how to get the AGPS data to your GPS over Bluetooth (you can't), then it's purely placebo. ;)

As an aside to everybody wanting to use AdBlock, don't bother. It's mostly just a good way of slowing down the browser. Go with an ad-blocking CSS file and hosts file instead.

I've never heard of a Bluetooth GPS that can receive AGPS data from its host. For most decent Bluetooth GPS units it'd be largely pointless, anyway.

If you uninstall the osso-software-version-XX package, when exists a SSU you will need to update with the red-pill mode (the packages to update aren't shown with blue-pill mode) or with apt-get upgrade.

I could be wrong, but my more-than-one-month with SSU updates does me suspect.

Oh... I'm sorry that my tone probably seemed like I didn't take you serious.

I did. Just an odd by-product.

Where do you put those?

Also, is there an svn buildservice for maemo? Seeing as how we all have exactly the same hardware, it seems like it would be a good idea to get nightly/weekly debs out there for testing.

Woo hoooo!

OK, here's the deal. I wasn't having the really fast browsing that everyone has been reporting; in fact my browsing seemed quite a bit more sluggish compared to pre-Diablo.

I am happy to report that reflashing Diablo - and NOT using the restore function to restore anything - fixed the problem.

I read of this "fix" somewhere on the internet - somewhere in the "comments" on a blog. It works! I have greatly increased browsing speed.

Hope this helps anyone else having this issue.

Re: Diablo Released - Say Goodbye to Firmware Flashing

I have spent about 24 hours with Diablo. Sorry, I know people put a lot of time into working on this stuff. I realize it must be hard tedious work. And I do consider myself an average user. I don't care. Flame me.
I just find Diablo to be pretty buggy. When I browse on Internet tablet for example, it crashes almost every time and is very slow.
I have also tried using the Modest email client. I can receive email but even though I have been very careful to set it up, I can not send email.
And well, I really didn't think it was a big deal to reinstall software after reflashes in previous upgrades.
Hey, if you like it, that's great. And I have never said this before, I probably will go back to the previous version.

Neil

Sounds like something's wrong. Perhaps your internal card is corrupted?

I think my internal card is OK since I am using the original small card that came with my n800 last year and I seldom used. I'm just temporarily using it.

I did just try the method others ( Thanks Wes Doobner) have used with success.

Like they did, I reflashed Diablo and didn't use the backup utility at all.

I then tried setting up Modest using the very simple setup wizard and doing nothing more to set up Modest.

I was then able to send email with Modest! , apparently simply because I didn't restore using Backup.

I'm still wondering why the browser crashes on ITT, but I'll take what I have so far.

Neil

Yes, there is. point your tablet browser to chrome://adblockplus/content/config.html

and you will be able do disable it properly.

Alternatively,

just disable the component from the mircob menu "tools" (I can not be more specific, i don't have my tablet close to me)

Mattia

Neil: Something is NOT right. I have been using the browser for several days now, NOT ONE crash. And also it now works with iTT without any modification.

As a general rule, I seldom use restore in a reflash update. Call me chicken.

Hey Bun:)

Well, As I said, I did reflash with Diablo and skipped the restore part.

That worked for the email which now works. But I have not been able to reinstall RTCOMM beta.

I can install the beta installer software but then it complains that I am missing repositories.

Funny, I was able to install this when I restored using the backup utility.

I see the detail with a long list of missing dependencies. I need to do my home work to figure out which package(s) I need.

At this moment the Chinook package is down. And I do have the package labeled for RTCOMM beta.

So, restore without backup seems to have fixed one thing and made another thing much harder to install.

Re: Diablo Released - Say Goodbye to Firmware Flashing

Well, I have to say this has been the smoothest upgrade ever. Only a couple of applications didn't install.
I did the restore (I even tarred up /home/user and untarred it after the upgrade) and, just to start with a clean state for the browser, I deleted /home/user/.mozilla.
The sites that didn't zoom properly under chinook now seem to be zooming correctly.
I didn't try the new modest yet (last beta I tried choked on my big imap folders), but claws works fine.
I've not played with it for long but all in all it seems a solid update.
Congratulations to all people involved.

Re: Diablo Released - Say Goodbye to Firmware Flashing

Everything is working well for me as well since the upgrade however, I keep getting this error after leaving plugged into the charger for a while: "internal Error. Application 'E-Mail' Closed" OK. The strange this is I still get E-mail notifications, the blue LED blinks and I can read my e-mails. No biggie, just wondering if anybody else is getting this error.

I tried it now, but still no joy with big folders.
Besides, it is lacking many options (threading, view next unread, mark thread read, mark folder read, show only new messages) that I take for granted in a mail program.

to continue off topic, the most simple way to get rid off the most of the ads (annoying ones anyway) is to disable flash :)
