Re: Introducing BlueMaemo

I've done exactly that -- deleted all pairings on both the n900 and the macbook. I fire up BlueMaemo and choose "Establish connection" and it seemingly properly pairs the devices. From the mac, I can see the additional Bluez HID mouse & keyboard profile and at first it says both paired AND connected. On the n900, BlueMaemo remains on the initial screen with the three options: Wait for connection, Reconnect, Establish Connection. After a minute or so, the mac connection breaks but the pairing remains and BlueMaemo remains on that same initial screen. Any ideas? |

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
hi, I've been using bluemaemo on windows 7 with my n900. The mouse and virtual keyboard work great, however, the hardware keyboard does not seem to work. I don't see any settings regarding this. Is this currently a bug?

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
Indeed,
The first time I wasn't able to make a connection from my N900, then I did an attempt by 'wait for conncection' which was a succes as the 'HID' option now appeared (windows xp). From that point I was able to connect in any manner. The physical keyboard doesn't work as it immediately opens the adres book or phone (letters or numbers respectively). Otherwise - even without the physical keyboard - still quite usable. I use it to control my second monitor from the living room, which functions as a tv in a dual screen lay out. |
Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
This is the keyboard input focus problem. See this thread for details.

VDVsx, do you think you could do a little hack as in the thread I linked to, until the libraries are fixed?

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
Using a Belking Bluetooth Dongle I followed the instructions and after like 10 remoev -> pair again attempts I finally got the BlueMaemo app to connect to the PC (Windows 7). Most of the time it just says "could not connect, damn." When I finally get the connection established I tried using the mouse, and after few seconds it just disconnects me (and cursor never moves either).
Now the problem was the HID device drivers not installing, which I now got sorted. When I go into the properties of the Bluetooth device, and Services tab I see Nokia Sync ML, Bluetooth Modem etc and depending on the moons position from 1 to 4 "Drivers for keyboard, mouse, etc (HID)". However, when I tick any of those and hit apply, it reloads the services tab and it's still unticked. If I choose them all it says "parameter error" and reloads as empty again. I'll fiddle more, but I'm quite unsure what might be the actual bottleneck here, any suggestions? |

There are two connection methods, the first one the connection is requested by your PC, in the second one is the N900 that requests the connection. Note that these methods are only needed when connecting for the first time, after that you can use the reconnect option. 1 - PC Requests the connection: * Remove any existent pairings between your N900 and your computer (in both devices). * Start BlueMaemo and select "Wait for connection". * In your PC go to the bluetooth preferences and choose ‘Add a new device’(or something similar). * Pair the devices. 2 - N900 requests the connection: * Remove any existent pairings between your N900 and your computer (in both devices). * Start BlueMaemo and select "Establish connection". * Pair the devices. Please let me know the result of these instructions. |
Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
On related news, I've finally started a wiki page[1] to gather these instructions, any contribution is very welcome, specially instructions for MAC OSX and Vista :)

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
First of all, thanks for the app! It looks fantastic and was one of the reasons I got the N900.
I cannot, however, seem to get it working with my x64 Win7 install. I've tried removing previous connections, tried both wait for connection and establish connection. Both times it SEEMS to work, Win7 pairs with bluemaemo and begins to install 6 drivers. It installs 3, including the HID one, but it can't seem to find the three others. After the failed driver installs, the N900 get's slapped with a yellow warning triangle in the devices window on the pc. Bluemaemo often thinks it has successfully connected to the pc and shows me the screen with mouse, keyboard media remote etc. None of them work, and after a few seconds of trying it says that it lost connection to the pc. I know it's alpha, so this will probably work when the final is released. Is there anything I might be doing wrong, or is there anything I can still try? But hey, keep up the good work on this seemingly great app! ^_^ |
Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
Hello, first of all, I want to thank you for doing this great application. This application is a must have!!
@ MrThunderfield : I had the same problem, I did the following things to make it work on my pc (Windows 7 professional x64). Remove the pairing (on devices and printers). Then, open BlueMaemo on your n900. Click on "Wait for connection". After that, on your pc, find the n900, and pair with it. I had the same problem, some drivers weren't installed, but all the funtions of maemoblue still work on my cellphone. I found a bug, I installed the one in extras-devel. When I use the "Media control" and I change the settings (actions of the buttons), I need to restart the application so all the buttons take effect of the new settings. Please keep up the good work, and if you accept donations, please tell me you website to be able to support you. |

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
ok I removed all pairings from PC and N900.
Turned off N900 bt before loading BlueMaemo. I'm using Windows 7 I then get asked to pair. I finish pairing then wait for the pc to finish install drivers. I think click yes to connect on my N900 I get the same messages as above :-( |

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
cool this is what I did step by step.
1 - Remove ALL parings from PC and N900 2 - Open BlueMaemo 3 - click on wait for connection 4 - Open BT panel on my PC and search for device 5 - Select N900 start pair enter code etc. 6 - I think this is key step. WAIT for the PC to finish install all drivers. 7 - The N900 screen will suddenly chge to being connect to the PC via Maemo blue, and you get a nice screen with mouse keyboard etc Hope this helps |

As I already told I do not have any computer here only PS3 and that is turned off. So can not change any name :) And I do not have any paired device, so can not figure out what is the problem and why is bluemaemo not starting. |
Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
How to change your PC's name (Windows 7)
1.- Click on "Start" 2.- Click on "Control Panel" 3.- Change the view to "Small icons" or "big icons" 4.- Click on "System" 5.- On "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings", click on "change settings" (on the right). 6.- On the new window, click on the button "Change" 7.- Change your PC's name to something plain, for example, from H'llo to Hllo. On that is done, pair your device. 0.- Turn on your n900 bluetooth (if used before with your pc). 1.- On Windows, Click on the "start" button. 2.- Click on "Devices and Printers". 3.- Unpair your n900, by selecting it, right clicking on it, and selecting "Remove device". 4.- Turn off your n900 bluetooth. 5.- Open MaemoBlue on your n900 6.- Click on "Wait for connection". 7.- On your PC, On your notification area, right click on the bluetooth Icon, and select add device, there add your n900 (will be shown as a bluetooth keyboard). 8.- Pair with it. The PC will give you a code that you need to put in the n900, a screen will automatically open on your n900. 9.- Your PC will tell you that it was a success, and is already connected, but your n900 will remain in "Waiting for connection". Just wait a couple of minutes, and it will send you to the menu (Windows 7 is still installing drivers). 10.- Enjoy. @ VDVsx : I have already reported the bug. @ nux : What are you pairing your n900 with? |

Re: Introducing BlueMaemo
I did all the steps detailed in the recent Win7 posts, but it just won't work. I changed my PC name to all-lowercase letters, removed all pre-existing connections, tried both wait for connection and establish connection but nothing.
In all cases it pairs with the pc, but after failing to find 3/6 drivers it won't let me use bluemaemo at all, not even through the three drivers it did install (bluetooth link of some kind, remote and HID drivers). Wait for connection doesn't do anything, it just says waiting for connection long after the drivers are done installing. Establish connection seems to work best, since it asks me to connect to my pc after the pairing. But after answering yes, it just says "failed... damn". Hopefully I can get it working soon since it seems like a killer app! |
