Re: N900 shipping delayed

I've stayed out of all these threads up to now, but just to confirm what others have said, I just got off the phone with the Nokia sales line and they are promising 9th November shipping in the UK.

In the past few days ive contacted MPD multiple times and they all said to me that the shipping date is the 16th????

I wouldnt mind the 9th though, its my b-day :)

Re: N900 shipping delayed

This Morning MobilePhones Direct have told me that T Mobile have pulled out from N900, but they'll honour existing preorders. Does anyone know why?

MPD also told me 16th, but 9th would be far better for me- my PAC code runs out on the 15th :(

Expansys sent me an e-mail just now saying they were sorry but Nokia informed them that the N900 will be available on the 13th of November.

Well, that's a bit more on the ball. Their website is still wrong, though.

Now we just need Amazon to wake up.

Re: N900 shipping delayed

I'm sure that's very true I don't think anyone has a clue when the release date is yet- all speculation...

but I'm kind of excited again now- or at least thinking that the whole swapping contracts thing might not be quite so much a pain in the bum as I thought..

Today (29/10) Amazon.co.uk still lists 2 Nov as shipping date for my order. Mind you, I have placed the order sometime in September and got only one delay so far, from 26 Oct to 2 Nov. No change in shipping date yet. *fingers crossed*

Haven't tried to phone them, but used the Online chat a couple of times. The guy this morning gave me the impression he was sick to death of N900 questions. Couldn't answer mine so told me to email them instead. Still waiting on their answer.

They haven't pulled out, they had a quota that has been filled so the offer was closed to new applicants

Re: N900 shipping delayed

I think i knw why t-mobile pulled out of n900 offers on MPD,
Tmobile are the stingyest when it comes to using theyr unlimited internet.
They probably feared the n900 as an internet heavy phone and thought it would just be too much for them.

Ah thanks- I wondered if that might be the case- they weren't so specific.

That probably wouldn't be a problem for me, I don't use it much. Can't see why they wouldn't though really.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not moving from Virgin because I wasn't happy with their service- in fact I've been so happy with them I'm a bit edgey about moving- but my contract with them didn't include internet unless I paid 30p a day- and I wanted the phone on contract (ie didn't want to buy it outright). Seemed like TMobile would be the answer since Virgin don't do the N900- Virgin runs on TMobile anyway.

Re: N900 shipping delayed

I've just received this from MPD:

Dear Customer

As you may have read in the press, we’re sorry to confirm that delivery of your new Nokia N900 stock has been delayed to mid November – Our N900 stock when it arrives will be the first in the UK and orders will be dispatched on a first ordered, first served basis directly from our Nokia stores. Be assured that you are top of the dispatch list for a new Nokia N900 and you will not get the N900 anywhere else before this date, which for the moment is exclusive to Nokia direct sales channels.

Please accept our sincere apologies for this short delay and we thank you for your patience. Having read several reviews and personally used a pre-production N900 running with Maemo 5 operating system, be assured that the new Nokia N900 will be very much worth the short wait.

If you would like to discuss your pending order please email us at webshop@mobilephonesdirect.co.uk. For more details of the Nokia N900 please visit our new Nokia Retail website www.nokiaretail.co.uk or our main website at www.mobilephonesdirect.co.uk

Kind regards,

jaark 2009-10-29 14:35

Nope, they have one of the clearest and generous packages out there. Their FUP is a lot clearer than their competitors and the consequences of overshooting the alowance a lot less draconian.
I've looked at the offerings of the others, and none of them are at all clear on whether you can do such things as tethering. Speaking to various CS reps wasn't much help either.
