I can't understand why they wouldn't contact you if a payment failed, you give them your phone number when you create an account on the shop in the first place. Binning the entire order without contacting the customer is poor.

I wonder if anyone with discounts made it through? (I had the 3 x 15% discounts)

I don't believe it!

When Nokia updated my order at the end of October (after I responded to their email to authorise my pre-order) it appears that they mistyped my name on the payment details. As the pre-order couldn't be processed it has now been cancelled and I will have to order again - without my 15% discount this time.

I think it would be fair to say that I'm not particularly happy right now.

Hi all,

I thought I'd use my first post to tell you all how gutted I am. I got an email at 4:20 saying that my order (from nokia.co.uk) was going to be processed. Hooray I thought, 10 minutes later my bank call to tell me they've declined the payment because they thought it was fraudulent. I told them it wasn't but it was too late.

I call nokia and they've re-ordered the phone. The guy seemed to think that it would be dispatched tomorrow but the email confirmation says 3 - 4 weeks.

So close, damn you natwest. Mine would have been dispatched today but who knows when I'll see it now :-(

Still the good news is that some of you will probably get your n900's tomorrow.

my card got declined too...due to my credit card company being vigilant about fraud!!!!!

Had a long conversation with the sales manager and got the same crap that the voucher codes will no longer be accepted. Not a happy bunny!!!

Please give feedback on anyone that manages to fight for the discount.

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

Just had the same issue, an email to confirm the shipping fo the goods and then a seperate email 20 minutes later to say my card has been declined.

I have checked my balance and there are enough funds to cover the purchase so I spoke to my bank HSBC who have said it was the the fraud prevention department who have cancelled the transaction - However I am now starting to doubt this as the card declines have happened to a friend of mine and also other people on this forum which I think is one in a million. It appears that Nokia are screwing people over.

now I have to deal with Chris from Nokia tomorrow morning because apparently there is no manager there right now.

if I lose my discounts I will be pissed.

When I ordered on Friday the email said 3-4 weeks, but today I got the email saying it has been released for processing and my card charged.. So you never know, you may get it processed tomorrow and delivered at some point this week.

On another note, are these being dispatched from within the UK or will it be dispatched from Finland?

Very interesting. I ordered direct and full price... but I went through quidco. It will be interesting to see if they manage to wriggle out of that one too. My card is good, and sudden £500 payments are not unusual (I made one last month) so we shall see what hapens!

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

Yeah, this is simply downright unfair. I seem to remember others a few weeks back (who had used the codes) that had to have their orders recreated - whom managed to still get their 10-30% discounts, albeit not stacked, but still allowed to have them.

Why isn't it possible for us now?

I suppose I could re-order with the 10% quidco/tcb cashback sites... it's just nowhere near as low as my original. *sigh*

I think most (if not all) ordered form Nokia directly.

As I've offered before, I will be willing to sell one of two I ordered with 15% discount (£424.15) I paid for once I receive them?

BASTARDS!!

Your order (No. xxxxxxxxx) has been cancelled because we were unable to process your payment on the credit card that you provided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please visit our online store at http://shop.nokia.co.uk/nokia-uk to replace this order. Prior to re-attempting the order, we recommend that you contact your credit card company.

Regards,
Billing Department
No surprise, I had the 30% discount price... which they had given me by telephone. If what other people are saying is true (I received the email too late to call customer services today), when they send you the above email, you lose all agreed discounts and have to pay full price.

Or walk away, obviously.

I'm much less excited to buy one now that I feel ripped off. Perhaps I don't need it after all.

There is nothing, nothing wrong with my credit card. If it's been declined it's due the the credit card pre-auth being held by Nokia for such a ridiculously long time (~5 weeks). (Not that I have any sympathy with the card company - a few years ago, the card company would have called me to question any unusual transaction, not just declined it. And this amount isn't unusual for me.) I would have been happy for them to take the money when ordered, but no, they do this and, from what others are saying, dishonour their agreed price.

I wonder if there is a correlation between those who ordered when it was offered on discount, and those whose orders are now getting cancelled...

So to clarify...

I have received just one email saying "The item below is now in stock and this portion of your order has been released for processing..."

Has anyone else received anything else after that email (apart from the emails saying your credit card failed)

UrbanRambler 2009-11-23 18:20

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

exactly my experience also. In my case the reason is that an incorrect expiry date was presented. I also feel that Nokia is screwing people who pre-ordered with discounts.

RevdKathy 2009-11-23 18:21

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

To be honest, the only people so far who've had their 'cards rejected' have been people with the double discount. If that's what's really happens, then it really, really does suck.

Nope..just received the same email as you..no sign of delivery..but as I said I checked with my CC company and they told me its has been authorised but no money has been debited...I guess they'll only debit it when they print the invoice ready for shipping!

I had a Credit card email to, All u need to do is ring your Card provider and confirm that you have place an order through Nokia and they will authorise the transaction, then Ring Nokia tomorrow(Cos they shut at stupid times) and tell them to resubmit the order, and hopefully they will ship the phone tomorrow :-)

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

I ordered with the magic 30% discount (re-order over the phone) and have yet to receive a cancellation email. From what I can tell, no money has gone out of my account either.

If my order is cancelled then I'm done, I'll stick with the Pandora and wing it for a year on whatever phone comes my way.

Khushdi 2009-11-23 18:28

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

I had preordered with two 15% discounts. Natwest called me earlier to authorise the transaction which I obviously did and I have not received any cancellation email from Nokia.

I was one of those people. Nokia Shop called me to tell me they were going to cancel my order, but they would recreate it with a new product code and the same discounts (calculated slightly differently - actually better), and I'd keep my place in the queue.

But now they've written to tell me my order is cancelled because my credit card has refused the transaction. What's the point in placing pre-orders if they don't work? Of course I have plenty of credit, it's undoubtedly been declined by the increasingly unhelpful "fraud prevention department". Thanks guys, your "help" cost me 170 quid.

I agree, it's most unfair if Nokia don't honour their agreed discounts due to credit card declinations most likely due to some pattern of behaviour from Nokia itself. It makes a mockery of their claim to sell the phone at an agreed price, and it makes a mockery of their promise to sell at the lowest price between when you ordered and when it ships.

Frankly I wouldn't expect Nokia to honour the cashback, based on sheer operational incompetence if nothing else.

Just got back from work. Are they taking a p155?

This sort of cr@p shouldn't be sent out in the first place!
I don't need to know if it's in stock and I don't need to know you're processing it.

All I need is the d4mn dispatch email with tracking number!

P.S
On a good side, my real-time credit card balance shows money has been taken out xD
I wouldn't expect to get it tomorrow, but who knows. Could be a knock on the door tomorrow with a black box.
They did mention the dispatch email will be sent out the next working day after dispatch.

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

One possible reason that people are being knocked back, is 'coz they are using credit cards, instead of debit cards. I have a credit card but it has a 250 quid limit, so I had to use my debit card.

When you use a credit card the credit card company takes the risk, when you use a debit card, you take the risk. Usually when you use a debit card the money goes from your account immediately, the fact Nokia waited till they had stock before taking my money, impresses me. I just hope the '900 impresses me.

To the people who have had their credits cards rejected, did you use a different delivery address to your credit card billing address? I ordered using triple discount code and everything seems fine so far, money has been taken from my credit card and I received the email.

Yeah, it's starting to sound like pretty much everyone who used any sort of discount code (while they were valid too mind-you) are getting cancellations left right and centre.

I might try and argue that point over the phone again in the morning, but I'm guessing they won't have any of it because when I spoke to them earlier, they were straight up definitive about it (as with everyone else).

But I still do really want the phone, and stupidly still willing to concede the £180 difference.

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

I believe those who tried to sneek in the 30% are having the orders cancelled.
Those who have cancelled orders/card decline, can you confirm your order contains 30% discount?

Mine was only 15%, went through fine without a problem, using HSBC.
Natwest is just a b1tch sometime, but they did stop a fraudlent transaction for me once, they sent a text saying there was a suspecious transaction, told me to call them to confirm. I said I didn't authorised it, they did a full refund and sent me a new card.

RevdKathy 2009-11-23 18:52

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

I used a credit card. I use it exclusively for things I do online/phone so that I can just cancel it if there's anything 'unpleasant' happens without it affecting my debit card/account.

Mind, I have rather good credit, and pay off every month. Last month's bill was over £700 including £590 university fees, so they wouldn't see an expenditure like this as unusual.

What I find more encouraging is that having waited, they are now taking people's money. That suggests they are finally serious about sending our n900s!!!!

Mate, it seems like Nokia are screwing over people using double discount codes.

Anyone used double discount codes have NOT had their orders cancelled/card declined by Nokia/bank?

I used 15% discount and went through Quidco.
All fine for me, I paid with HSBC Credit Card

There has to be some sort of legal thing we can use here. How is it possible for so many people to have had their orders cancelled in what can at best be described as a 'dubious' manner.

Also, my bank told me the order was blocked because it was strange - When I questioned that they mentioned it looked like a manual customer-not-present transaction attempt rather than a standard Online transaction.

Also, me, Hass (see above) AND perhaps ae0n all went through to the exact same abrupt guy at Nokia CS with the Irish accent called 'Chris'.

Very strange and I for one will be having a rant at Nokia and if unresolved then a word with my solicitor.

All fine for me, I'm with HSBC.

I used the double discount and quidco and, suprise suprise, order cancelled due to credit card problem. However the transaction was truely attempted and Barclaycard were the ones responsible for the denial! Nokia may therefore be honouring some of these orders?

I will speak to Nokia tomorrow with little hope of any success other than 499 for the handset (which I cannot afford :()

Did you have multiple discount code?
I believe the Nokia is doing the "manual customer-not-present transaction" to try and fail the order for those who used multiple discount codes.

If your order has been cancelled/card decline, please state if you have used multiple discount codes or not.

Winterman 2009-11-23 19:08

Re: Nokia N900 - UK Release Related Information

I didn't have multiple codes, I had the Nokia 30% code for a re-order placed on October 29th after my original 16th October order (two 15% codes) was cancelled.
