I posted this in another thread, but its a funny story of my first wild spotting.

I finally saw my first one in the wild the other week. It was about 12:45am and I was at a gas station in the Northern Va area picking up a pack of smokes, these two indian guys walk in and try to buy beer. They found you cant buy beer in va after midnight. I had a 6 beers left over from a 12 pack a buddy and I split earlier in the evening and decided to sell it to them since I saw what happened. One of the guys needed change to get the beer, so he runs into the store and the other one is out there with me. The guy out there explains to me that they didnt know beer sales cutoff at midnight out here, and then his phone goes off. Its a N900!! I said to him "Holy Sh*t dude your phone!" He gets a confused look and is like huh, so I say "As$hole, your phone look!" and pull mine out. His eyes light up and he says "Oh wow, you're the first person I met that has one too" He was visiting my area from new york, and after that I was so geeked out, I ended up giving them the beer. Ownership has its privileges.

i have yet to see another use in person O_O i saw the n900 displayed at the hong kong airport electronics shopping section, but other than that, havent seen another n900 in real life! crazy!

I've seen 2 people with N900's while traveling on the trains. That's since May.
But then again a lot of Australians get sucked into marketing, that's why 50% have iphones.

In Hamilton, New Zealand, I think there may be 2 N900 users. Me and the other guy :)
N900 is a rare specie. PS mine became super heated this morning from Hildon-home (6days up time) and I have to killed it and rerun it to cool down my device without restarting. Nokia needs to fix this hildon-home issue.

I did not see one in the wild in Vienna/AT up to now.
My sister-in-law liked the device when I was getting some information at birthday of my mother-in-law.

Checking via Google I just learned that benny1967 is the only
N900 user in Vienna afaics.

I thought I had already posted on this thread, but search brought up nothing. Nevertheless, in a hospital in Espoo, Finland, a pretty woman in her early twenties was sitting next to me and also had an N900.

We exchanged glances.

I think she wanted me pretty badly.

Up here in ON, Canada I haven't seen any around. Then again Nokia doesn't officially sell the N900 in this country.

Heh, no, I haven't seen another out in public besides my own.

As a side note, despite me explaining several times what the device is and does, when I had my n900 sent in for repair, one of my friends saw me whip out my nokia 3555b and mentioned, "wait, didn't you have an android?"

I had to chuckle, but didn't correct the mistake. :)

Hah it was weird because at that point all I had was a n800, and this random dude beside me has my dream phone. He was just watching videos or something boring, not hacking gibsons like he should have been. But I was still jealous so I got one as soon as I could. Flight would have been somewhere between BC and AB.

Yeah, not selling to a country really cuts down on the number of phones around here. But, we didn't have any AWS providers at launch, so it wouldn't have sold much more anyways. newegg.ca & ncix carried it at least. Prices were stupid though.

except one office colleague (Which I have mentioned earlier) I have not seen anyone else using N900.

The reason may be most of time, I look into my N900 while commuting ...that is why I could not find any other guy using this one..

I work in IT support in a high school, one kid came to change his password and said "I have the N900, it's ace isn't it sir?" while I was messing with mine at my desk... Really surprised me.

Still not spotted any other users. But I was in Three store other day helping my Dad get a phone for his new job and all the sales people were all over me going "Is that an N900?!" The manager said he was disappointed it never got released on Three. Then a few days later in Phones4U when my girlfriend was getting her N8 the sales rep in there was amazed by it too.

Made me feel kinda special lol.

Would be nice to know if there are any other N900 users in West Yorkshire though, or am I alone here?

I know 3 of my colleagues from the IT-School in Berlin/Germany where I was for my apprenticeship also have a N900 (they bought It after seeing me with my N900 :) ).

Just one guy in Sofia, Bulgaria I know with N900. He is financial manager, owns it because it was the most expensive NOKIA touch screen phone at that time ;-)

Today I met my cuz studying CS, He was damn excited to see my N900, and wanted to buy it soon, many of his frens at Uni, owned N900 ! He has seen more than 50 units of N900 @ Uni.

I have never seen anyone with a N900 and I have known about the phone for over a year. People are always impressed when they see what mine can do tho and say they never seen or heard of it. I guess I got the exclusive phone I wanted.

I was invited to a New Years party in London.

When I checked my N900 for incoming text messages, one of the guests exclaimed in surprise: "Wait, what? Is this a N900???"

It turned out that he also owns a N900. We had enough talk for the rest of the evening ;-)

I saw one in the wild in Krakow on some IT workshops.

Last week I convinced my friend to buy one (and spend whole day explaining basis)
Yesterday I convinced another:)
So almost 3 N900 at Silesia.

Saw a guy in the Vodafone shop with an N900 on Friday. He was saying he just couldn't get on with the phone so he was asking for a replacement. I admired his courage in admitting that it was above his head rather than ranting about it being a sh*t phone. Then I made him sick by showing him some of the things you could do with it if you put your mind to it.
A few other customers were pretty impressed too.

WTF??? This is 100% not true! I кnow a lot of people who owns N900, I saw yesterday in Carrefour a woman with one of those pieces.
BTW I am wondering how such stupid f*cks are hired for Fin. M`s etc. I have enough from " people from the deep dark province". (Тъпи селяци!) I hope you know what i mean with (Тъпи селяци!).

I was at the supermarket (Tesco) the other day loading the Tesco-Clubcard app on my N8 while waiting at the checkout and there was this tall guy trying to peak at my phone. :confused:

So I looked into his eyes and gave him a 'dirty' look. :mad:

What does the guy do? Pull out his N900. :eek:

I really had the urge to pull mine out, but unfortunately it was at the Nokia Care centre getting treated for having a faulty USB connector. :(


One of the things that I noticed is, that we (N900 users) have the urge to show other 'smart-phone' users that we are far superior. I mean, I love it when people come and enquire about my N900 as if it was something from a different Planet. :D

Btw, any fellow N900-ers/Maemo-ers around in North London? :)
