Don't get too many hope about PR1.2 coming tomorrow...

Andre Klapper, who manages bugs.maemo.org, has already stated on this same thread at 15th March that the community hasn't yet received a test version to debug by that time, and there should be about 2 weeks between Nokia releasing this testing version and the actual deployment for general users, depending on the number of last minutes bugs to fix it.

Please note that the release is marked as EA ( "early access" ) and is not the final version of the 1.2 SDK.

That means new version will be 10.2010.09-3.

Which will be a 7 week difference from previous version (which was released 16 Feb).
Giving us a timeline of second week of April for PR 1.2.

This guess, although rational, can't be a fixed rule... The release of a new firmware can be influenced for a lot of reasons not related to the technical difficulties, like marketing, political, bureaucracy or even to wait for including a new functionality which is not ready yet (like Ovi Suite integration or Ovi Maps voice navigation)...

I understand Nokia has business reasons to not reveal details about its operation, but I am hoping that someday they decide to give the community more information about its roadmap, even without dates.

This thread is getting so old and tired. Can I make a suggestion?

Start a thread called something like "The FACTS about Maemo/MeeGo/Qt" and fill it with what we know. Make it a sticky so everyone will see it first, lock it down so it doesn't become yet another troll feast, and hopefully it will reduce some of the FUD traffic that is threatening to drown this site.

Any noobs posting a "should I buy / wait, what is meego, will PR1.2 allow me to run iPhone apps" type of questions should just be pointed to that thread with the known FACTS and told everything else is speculation - then hopefully their threads will die a little quicker.

Alternatively, I'll just start a "Speculation about PR1.3" thread now, and get in early.

tbh that could mean nothing since march is almost over if there is no update by next week it will be april (i know thats obvious but that hows the nokia answer comes across to me):rolleyes:

thank you for this interesting link.

it confirms another information tha's unrelated to PR 1.2, but keeps popping up in this forum: they say they still can't quite deliver as much N900s as they would have to to datisfy the demand from the market - and they say that capacities in the factories have been doubled already.

According to the Maemo PR1.2 SDK which was released today, it's released for firmware version: 10.2010.09-3.
Since the last update PR1.1.1 was released on Feb 16th and has a version of 3.2010.02-8, it's safe to assume that the release is ready and should hit us by the end of this week.
A little late (8 days after version date for the 1.1.1), 11+ for this one, but maybe they wanted to give the SDK some headstart for porting/testing.

This is one of the best threads ever! :)
However, it is a known fact that the only one who knows EXACTLY when PR 1.2 will be available to download, is an old monk who lives in a remote and desolate place in the middle of Antarctica. Problem is, that this monk is mute, but this is exactly why Nokia tells him all their secrets, including PR 1.2 release date.
Moreover, there's a rumor that this monk also has a general idea on when PR 1.3 will be available too - what a well-connected monk he is!

How much free rootfs space do you folks think we will need?

Perhaps the root of the delay is that PR 1.2 is very large and Nokia is trying to figure out how to make it more compact so that users are not forced to reflash...

and I understand the original language. but in my mind they are talking about 1.2. men visst. som alltid bör du dra dina egena slutsatser. men läser du hela chaten nämns uppdateringen flera gånger, vilket får mig att tänka på 1.2, utan att de säger rakt ut att det rör sig om 1.2..

Asking the monkey about PR1.4 release date then, please!! I heard it will add a feature of Teleportation to the N900... that's why they haven't launched Ovi Maps navigation, it won't be needed anymore!!!
