Everyday I look at the N9 it looks sexier and sexier! :D
It better get announced at Nokia World with pre-orders coming soon after MeeGo 1.1 release. Is that a reasonable plan?

will the N9 have stereo speakers like the N900? I was looking at the pics (which don't cover all angles) and I couldn't see a speaker grill anywhere. On the right side of the keyboard there is a port or something which is being blocked by fingers and a weird angle which makes it hard to tell what is there.

So... rumours has it that the N9 will not be making an apparence at Nokia World on September 14-15... If that's the case, we'll have to wait for the first MeeGo conference on November 15th? That tells me that the N9 will be in our hands in 2012... The more Nokia keeps delaying this beast, the more it will lose its potential... one year is more than enough time for competitors...

In theory they have not delayed it, they never announced anything to delay.
but they have been saying a product milestone will come in Q4 2010 only if we see no MeeGo device this year can it be classed as a delay.

N9/MeeGo-Harmattan phone is one of the least leaked Nokia flagships ever. Kind of nice to see device that i don't already know everything about before announcement coming from Nokia... that is if some random chinese blog or Eldar don't review it before announcement.


Hopefully we see it in MeeGo Conference or before like N900 was announced ~ week before Maemo Summit.

which is exactly what makes me worried a bit... that in combination with those recent rumors thp linked to, saying that harmattan has been dropped altogether and we're waiting for a real meego device in 2011 now. well, time will tell.

Can't say i'm worried for now. I have heard source i trust saying that N9 and Harmattan developing work as a whole inside Nokia have been done much more closed doors with less information shared inside Nokia for proto device and beta software tests. Could explain much less information going around than what the Symbian phones usually get.
N900 was pretty much the same, but then there was of course that Eldar review week before announcement that revealed pretty much everything. :)


Not trying to pretend that i know anything so like you said time will tell. Hopefully we don't need to wait for too long.

this is the nokia "E7 A BUSSINES PHONE" runing symbian 3 but heard somewhere it will be upgradable to meego since symbian sucks for the phone.

haha u got jokes... Actually I saw the outcome and i didn't like the results so, i am asking... If you could throw some ideas in... maybe make a good looking mixed up phone from ideas from this forum, so if u got ideas say them, lets see what we could come up with:rolleyes:

Who knows maybe, if we come up with a good looking device maybe Nokia will look and learn, maybe even take a thing or two... they need all the help they can get, and also now im so bored I might just mess around more

What about a device supporting all four orientations (two portraits and two landscapes)?
Not simply display supporting all four orientations, but also slide-out keyboard supporting all four orientations.
The keyboard would have to change size of buttons and their labels, so it would most likely have to be touchscreen...

Attached: schematic how a four-orientations capable slide-out keyboard could be attached to device (blue rails, black stops, green attaching clips move in the rails until they reach a stop).

Multi direction slide out is not a bad idea! the N95 comes to mind with the 2 way slide out controls! How about making a slide out kb that goes both ways? Traditional slide out = hw kb like on the N900 and if you rotate screen 180 degrees and slide the kb out on that side you got gaming buttons and d-pad! :D I'd buy that in a heartbeat!

I agree with you til an extent, we could have fun playing around with different shapes and designs till then, and Nokia has the ability to seriously disappoint, so for now... Anything can happen

I really like your design! Wish the real N9 looks that way! And MeeGo to be as least as good as Maemo 5 IS! ;-)

PS1. Ca you move the space bar to the right? It is really convenient to be able to use my right thumb with pressing space.

nice, call nokia and tell them to use your deagin. Thats no problem since its probably years until nokia is ready to ship meego/n9.

Yeah im not too happy with the camera shutter, but if i want this phone at 8.5" thick, it needs to be as light as possible.

But if u have suggestions for the position and type go ahead let us know...

haha, Yeah the year nokia takes my designs, it computers will be absolute, but yeah!

This one got some problem with the USB positioning :)
Why? okay let me make this clear for you. If you plug the device into the computer or USB stick, can you use it with 2 hands? There is a problem when you want to use it when the device is plugged in charging or into the computer. So the USB should be moved to the top instead of at the bottom on the left handside. Best place to put it is at the buttom left instead.
