you didn't understand my question, already answered it my self.

@maxximuscool you need the packages (backup manager) on a seperate storage (memory stick or usb)

what is needed isn't logan but apache2, squid and jsered to make a proxy and web server on N900.
Proxy to redirect psn update request and web to serve the forged ps3-updatelist.txt files.
That's what I use on my linux box anyway since I don't trust the well known IP enough to send my psn login infos throught it.

mate the tutorial cant really get any simpler. how about you post where you are having problems and we will try to help you from there? you could also wait for the GUI, which is coming out either today or in the next day or two?

It is simple but it is missing the part
"Put the manager.pkg into your storage media (USB Drive or HDD) other than N900, Plug the USB in after the you see the *install packages files, and leave it to load"

How and what do you think people will assume? Unzip and off to go! Otherwise stated it clearly for noobies to follow. I had to search for information through google to find this infor.

yup, thats the file you need to install..its the backup manager.. just install it and start backing up your games..

but first try looking for your game on this site and see where can the ps3 play the games from and where it cant.. INT = internal, USB = external.. http://www.ps3news.com/subdomain.php...rentpage=1&s=7

do exactly what it says. delete the disc installation data (NOT the save game) from your hard drive.

if youve played the game from disk they advise you delete game data before running the backup!

wow i jst noticed while backing up a game. some games come with the f/w update embedded propting you to update. but i guess they will be a way to maybe edit or replace the update.pup file after backing up


darkvoid works to internal drive. but wont allow me to update. it just crashes.

theres a chance you didnt use the patched version of psfreedom.ko
might want to make sure you did? if you are 100% sure, try a different disk

Are you 100% positive that you deleted the right data? Because that's exactly the behaviour that's expected when you haven't.

yeah i did, the error(game corrupt, delete data) did not show up anymore, but now it just takes me back to the XMB and nothing different

ill try the patch files again...

Thanks BlackDiamond, at least I'm not the only one. So you can confirm that it works again? because I remember this method stopped working for me a long time ago, along with logan5. But now I'm hearing that logan5 works again. So does the squid jsered and apache2 method work now?

Is anyone having problems with this at all? I'm trying to back up my wipeout HD fury and every time it do this using the backup manager it goes back to the XMB! I've even changed the hex code to /dev/bd_dvd (Summat like that - posted on this site) and still nothing.

I've heard about theres a patch too, but doesn anyone know if the n900 version has been patched at all?

after so much effort stil cant get this to work

done everythin but i cant still seem to make it work
first problem is i cant install backup manager comes ou with an error. so i installed the stealth backup up manager thats installed and runs.

secondly i backup the game using stealth backup manager, but when i press x to load the game, takes me to the xmb i select the game, black screen for a few secs and im back to the xmb. does this mean the game dont work. ive checked the compatibility list and bionic commando isnt there.

Hi there,
I had the same problem!!!
Just download the patched version on page 2,put in the root of your n900 and reboot and do all steps described on page 1

root

chmod +x psfreedom-enable.sh
chmod +x psfreedom-disable.sh

./psfreedom-enable.sh

Hi there, I install evertyhing like on tutorial, after that when I start manager (I have to put code 0000 - Parental control restricted content) like on screen

and select copied game on backup manager i see "virtual" disk and everything works like it should. But when I try start this game, on screen all icons disappear and I see only wallpaper. System is freezed :( I have to take power lead off. My PS3 is SLIM 250GB and software is 3.41.

I don't know what to do :( maybe someone will help?

I've already check it and this games (Tekken 6, UFC 2010) are compataible with it. In this two titles is this same problem.
I've turn off parental control and nothing changed. Just icon of manager is blue with white arrow directed downside.

Maybe problem is when I turn on console?

I do it like that : (Everytime)
1. Take of the power cord.
2.On my nokia x terminal i do root and later ./psfreedom-enable.sh and plug it into ps3.
3. Plug power cord.
4. Push power button and hold immediately eject button until on my nokia i will see menu how connect my phone (about 7-9 seconds)
5. After that system on ps3 is normally loaded with extra options of psfreedom

I do something wrong or it is ok ?

Is your N900 using Power Kernel? or Stock kernel? Run psfreedom-enable.sh and run psfreedom-disable.sh.

If you see the error then it meant that your PSfreedom-enable is running. So now plug it into a turned off PS3. Pull out the power cable and press power button to kill all all left over power.

Plug the cable back in, quickly press power and Eject 0.05seconds apart, keep holding eject button for a few seconds, if your PS3 takes longer to load then it will works otherwise it won't. Unplug every USB device from PS3 before you do it, and left only the N900.

When I do on X-terminal command uname -r i have message: 2.6.28-omap1 so It is regular.

So if I do like You said I will do it same like me :(

I really can't bypass the update. not even the dangerous method of connecting to the given dns server works for me, it doesn't work for the uk updatelist.txt perhaps.

Do you need to jailbreak before the bypass works? I'm not interested in the backup manager so I have no intention of jailbreaking yet but I'd like to keep the current firmware just in case the homebrew community really takes off. So is the firmware bypass jailbreak dependent somehow?
