So is anyone else experiencing issues over HSDPA trying to use cutetube?
I find the little circle keeps spinning in the status bar but never loads any videos/titles/searches etc.
I know my connection speed is adequate because I can browse web pages with ease and load the videos/searches up on zoutube (id prefer to be using your program though!).

hi I know cutetube use the stock media player. Anyone know how to be able to not use fullscreen. I want the top taskbar if possible. I ant to be able to multi task

Ctrl and backspace will minimise the window.

but it will also stop the video. have to stick to the browser.

The video still plays if you're using a recent version with the internal player.

I've just installed it from the repos and it's working fine for me. Try launching it from the terminal using

New version not working for me either? just doesn't open at all. No worrys, just went back to old 0.9.6-4 version and works again! Please leave that in testing so we can downgrade to a working version if neccessary! Love the app i use it everyday :)

I will be adding sharing via Facebook and cleaning up the UI for the next release. The menu is getting a bit cluttered.

Any chance of being able to share the videos we watch by copying the URL of the video and pasting it to a text or email? Is there a way of making the URL available in some kind of video info thingy?

You can copy the URL to the clipboard. It's in the post that you quoted.

Latest update is not functioning properly. It opens up gets to the main menu logs me in, i can search and browse videos but, when i click a video i get a black screen with "playing (video name)" and that's it. Video never plays.
I tried reporting on the bugs link but never figured out how.
Just thought i would let you know, thanks for the effort.

Yep. Newest version doesn´t currently play videos. I think that I could play them couple of hours ago with this version.

Actually one thing that I thought even before this, that is there any kind of error checking on youtube service that reports back to user that youtube is not working as should, is too slow or has other problems.

Im running which I believe is the latest version 0.9.7-1, I can browse videos fine but as soon as I click play video it just gives me a black screen and never plays. Also when I click download it goes to the download queue and says complete but is on 0% and never actually downloads anything.

By the way great app one of my favs on the N900, keep up the good work! :D

Cute tube is crashing to desktops when launching it after yesterdays update. i have version 1.1.1-1

anyone else having this problem? also rebooted n900 but still no luck

I missed a dependency (python-simplejson). I'll correct it for the next build. In the meantime, anyone facing the crashing issue can install python-simplejson:

Hi, I´ve the same problem. After installing yesterdays update, their are no Videos running. Get black screen! Will there be an new update. Anyone knows?

In December of 2010, YouTube got rid of the option to automatically play videos in a specific format, depending on the URL, via putting "&fmt=xx" ("xx" determines one of ten different two-digit numbers) in the URL.

And

fmt is an undocumented URL parameter that allows selecting YouTube quality mode without using player user interface. YouTube removed this option on December of 2010.

Well, mediabox with youtube plugin still works. But it just isn't the same. User interaction with the app and overall experience are much better on cutetube. Hope you can fix it, marxian.

Awesome app indeed! I'm still having some troubles with it, hope you can help me out.

-I don't know if that is quite normal, but when I launch cutetube it takes ~10 to 12 seconds to be functional;
-I was in need to re-install cutetube and the second time around it won't allow me to watch any selected youtube video (I'm getting a blackscreen);
-sometimes it launches, then it takes me back to my homescreen leaving no trace to launch itself later on automatically.

There's no danger of it becoming defunct. It isn't that big a job to get the videos working again. I'm working on it.
