sounds still a big drawback but it can be turned off easily so no biggy, res evil 2 was just about playable with psx4m before the latest update. on the new pcsx the vids are silky smooth and the game is very playable, albeit much harder aiming and shooting with the keyboard (i remapped r2 to the shift key to help.)

Hey bonapart, how is it going in the moment? Is it hard to integrate the last changes from Notaz? Thank's for your hard work, I'm looking forward to the next update.

Oh ok, I'm sorry. I thought it was so quiet because there was something new to come. Are you still working on the gles for pcsx? It would be great to see Gran Turismo work with gles.
Do you think the problems with the graphics in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 will be solved in the future?

which problem you have ? does it rely on pcsx core or gpu used to render ?

I found that after saving, you have to enter the config menu for that game and save settings there too before it takes effect...

Games look great but framerate seems to drop.. Looking promising though!

EDIT: It's odd, it seems generally to be fast, but something makes the framerate drop, doesn't seem to be related to how much is going on on screen, and then once whatever is causing it is gone the framerate speeds up again, and so on..

So which one do I actually install?

PCSX Maemo Edition
PCSX ReArmed
PSX4M
PSX4M-dbg
PSX4M-GLES
PSX4M-gui

Or do I just need - PSX4m - PSX4m-gles - PCSX-ReArmed - PSX4m-gui

I have flicked through the 41 pages and unable to find an FAQ to say which one I SHOULD be installing. Do I just download them all?

Just install psx4m-gui that will include the newest versions of psx4m, psx4m-gles and pcsxReArmed.

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Try downloading the PSX4M-gui package which is supposed to have everything I need - however it states Installation File Corrupted and is unable to install.

Is there a work around?

I tried going into x-terminal and downloading it that way as it describes on the first page - no joy. Even ran apt-get install and tried again, but it wont download

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Auto-install is broken. You have to do it manually.

Thankyou

I have downloaded the said package.

I have placed it in my phone.

However when I typed the above line in x directory it states no such file or directory??

Must be doing something obviously wrong.

I typed in root first when I entered x directory as well

Where did you download the package file to on your phone?

By default, when you switch to the root user you will be in /home/user

If you downloaded the package to your SD card, you would first have to type:

cd /media/mmc1

If you downloaded the package to your internal N900 drive, you would first have to type:

cd /home/user/MyDocs

After that you can type the dpkg -i command

Still having a problem. Seems to have installed but when you press start nothing happens. Same with the configure key. There were a few error messages when I entered the lines above.

how to install pcsx rearmed? is it the best emukator for now?

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Just read through this thread as I am not having much joy with this - I do not seem to have a game.bin section to load my images.

I have the tabs:

General
PSX4m
PCSX Re-Armed
Advanced

The bios is loaded under General, but nowhere to load uop my game images - that is why when I press Start nothing happens?

Tried uninstalling and going through the download process again. Same problem

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

wow do i see that right you already updated pcsx-rearmed?
thats really fast r7 came out like today or yesterday, you are awesome bonapart!!!

bonapart 2011-03-03 10:47

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

tabris: yeap, i uploaded r7 today, happy gaming ;-)

Full changelog for maemo:
implemented most used GTE operations in NEON
merged latest Ari64's recompiler patches
removed some code from the recompiler that is unneeded for R3k
added some special handlers for constant reads
some moderate builtin GPU and SPU optimizations
added redump.org SBI support
tuned frameskip code again
fixed a crash in builtin gpu code
fixed cdrom slowdown issue
fixed notaz stupid bug in the recompiler that slowed down recompilation a lot
some other refactoring
fixed savestates( one savestate per all roms, but it's better than nothing)

copy from god_at_hell post:
Quote:

added redump.org SBI support
For people who don't know what this means:
If you have an copy protected game (eg FF8 in german) for which you only have bin/cue files, you can download the subchannel data as .sbi file from redump.org and the game will work.

The new version is awesome! I tested ridge racer and medieval and they run almost full speed (90%-95%) without overclock! Thanx

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Anyone there that can help me - cant even get this installed at all

After downloading the file and putting it in my root (as it wont download from App Manager) it will load up but there are no options to enter a game file and pressing start does nothing. Obviously some repositories have not downloaded - not sure how to fix.

Have ran get-apt update and there were some errors

Tedri Mark 2011-03-04 03:04

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

I can confirm that it it working very well, most of the games i played were too fast if you overclocked past 700mhz with pal frameskip on...

Couldn't get any of the games where i'd set hwa=1 to work, but they worked if set it back to =0..

Good work!

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

FP125: what's problem ? you can't see games?
1. check extesions: only bin,img and iso is allowed (maybe only lower case? )
2. check directory with images ( tap title, gui config, rom directory, restart psx4m-gui)
if it's not help describe all what you tried to do more explained

FP125 2011-03-04 10:38

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Thankyou for taking the time to reply bonapart

I have uninstalled any Playstation related apps so I started from scratch.

My problems are:

1. Unable to install PSX4M-gui from App Manager - I get the corruption message everytime (even deleted the repository and downloaded it again)

2. As this would not download I followed the advice earlier in this thread and downloaded PSX4M-gui package to my PC desktop and placed it in my phone via a USB cable.

I then (as root) went into xterminal and typed dpkg -i psx4m-gui_0.4-6.11_armel.deb in an attempt to install it.

Xterminal then attempts to install it but a lot of error messages appear such as:

psx4m-gui depends on psx4m-gles however psx4m-gles is not installed - it says the same for pcsxrearmed

It ends with:

dpkg error processing psx4m-gui (--install)
dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

3. Because of this, I went back into App Manager and succesfully downloaded & installed PSX4M-GLES and PCSX-ReArmed

4. I can now see the Icon for the Playstation emulator in my Games folder and I am hoping all is ok. However, like last time when I select this and press start nothing happens. I select Default Config and I can see the tabs at the top of the screen reading General, PSX4m, PCSX-ReArmed and Advanced.

However there is NO option anywhere to select a game image and where it says BIOS under the General tab it is left blank. When I select this, nothing happens at all. So I can not even enter a screen where my Bios file is

Obviously it is some problem with my installation file. Not sure how to fix it. ANy help would be greatly appreciated

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Bonapart,

is it possible for you to make "Ninja - Shadow of darkness" work? it was one of the best games for PS1.

Another great game that i found not currently working with any configuration is Knockout Kings 2001.

Thanks.

bonapart 2011-03-04 12:03

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

FP125:
there is no option to select Game Image, Only option to select where psx4m-gui should try to find games (doesn't support subdirectories)
tap title -> GUI config -> Rom directory
all games from that directory must be shown in game list, where you can select one game and push start button bellow game list...

impeham: create log(take a look to first post for how-to) with pcsx-rearmed core, frameskip-off, fullscreen-on, threaded sound-off,hwa-gpu-off and send me link(if i can't do something i will resend it to Notaz)

@bonapart :
thanks a lot for your wonderful work .

I confirm that there is a problem with psx4m-gui in the repository , only way to get it installed is using dpkg manually .

Still when using gamegripper square cannot be used as square. It works as O, i dont know why ? Its L button on keyboard, L doesnt work as square.

bonapart 2011-03-04 14:58

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

shnigi: hm, i can't repeat this problem at my device, i have no ideas what can be wrong, but you can try to remove /opt/psx4m/keys file and create new keyboard bindings ones more(also send me copy of keys file with L set as square, maybe some wrong key-code)

ivyking: really??? read previous pages, we talked about it a lot and i know about it, also i posted solution how-to avoid it(using dpkg); also it's not my bug - maemo repository make this bug(wrong checksum for package was calculated)

Cheers

If no games are in my PS1 file am I doing something wrong? I have a bin & iso file in there, in lower case but it is not locating them.

Defo some problem as I also put my bios image in there (scph1001.bin) and it wont locate that either when I select Bios directory in psx4m-gui

I went into xterminal again and attempted the install that way by typing:

apt-get install psx4m-gui

There was an error message stating:

unmet dependencies - try apt-get -f install

I did this and it states:

The following new packages will be installed:

psx4m

0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 57 not upgraded

I selected Y to continue the installation and a LOT of error messages appeared - these ended with

Errors were accounted while processing:
account-plugin-salut
telepathy-extras
e: sub process / usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

FP125: ok, i can't understand what you can't understand ...
let's try following steps
1) copy game images with name game.bin to /home/user/MyDocs(when connect your n900 to PC it's just something like N:\ | /mnt/n900/ | /media/n900 (aprox. 28gb drive))
2) open psx4m-gui
3) tap title -> gui config -> rom directory
4) select Nokia N900(or bluetooth name) that at top of dialog, right from up directed arrow
5) tap above dialog to close it
6) close application psx4m-gui by clicking X in upper-right corner of screen
7) reopen psx4m-gui
8) you should be able to see game.bin bellow title bar
...
