Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
hi, how about adding zoom with the volume keys (and then moving around with fingers) when you view the just shooted picture and have no time limit set for it? Would be nice!

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
Thank you for this suggestion,
but the image in the preview window is just a preview. It is smaller than the real image (640x480 for example, but it depends on the capture image size). nicolai |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
nicolai,
have you considered porting your camera-ui app to meego N900 DE? Many thanks for that great software - I'm using it with my N900 as my main camera for a long time already :) |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
meego will have 720p camera , in maemo for example not possible,

@ CSSU team,
i like the new modified cameraUI, really great, work. But is it possible to get different icons in the color settings?? I mean the settings of sephia/negative and so on. It would be nice if the icons are also in sephia/negative and so on. Thanks in advance |

and is called control_led.png. I want to know of it is possible to set this icon into grayscale etc. In cameraUI you have left nearly at the bottom this icon, it is used for color settings. At the moment all these settings have the same icon. I would like it if here are different icons, so is it possible to set this icon in grayscale, sepia etc? Thanks for your effort, and great work sofar! |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
Does any one else have an issue with the camera app. crashing when trying to take a photo? This happens about 1 in 20 times; press the camera button to take a photo, the camera app closes, and no photo has been saved.

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
@nicolai
Is camera interface closed source or can we brainstorm a better interface. There is a clutter of icons spread all over the screen. It should look more like viewfinder on a dslr. Everything kept in a menu and details given at the bottom only (it has this by default). just a thought to improve the overall look and feel of camera-ui. So the query is is it open source and possible? |

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
Hello.
I have a question / idea. Im interested in an application where does show up the speed on the camera screen (using the data from GPS) during capturing a video. Maybe some more guys are interested to this idea and some Programmer will try to implement this? |

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
I updated to the CSSU from fresh install.
Gchat video call between Linux and N900 runs ok, with a couple issues with the feeds of the cameras. Gchat video between Mac and N900 only works one way... if n900 activates the camera, the received feed from Mac (latest OS and latest flash update) is lost from N900 screen, even tough the Mac still broadcasts it. I wonder if the camera-ui2 included in the CSSU may have affected any of the front camera settings. |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
No. These kind of incompatibilities are usually caused by incompatible codecs, especially since Linux <-> N900 works.
camera-ui2 doesn't interfere with the front camera at all, if nothing drastic changed in the latest release. |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
Many of the pictures I'm taking are not saved, they show as 0kb files. It happens most of the time I take pictures.

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
Is it possible to upgrade to CSSU and keep the closed-source camera-ui?
|
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
The easies way is, install CSSU and then reinstall closed-source camera-ui:
apt-get install --reinstall camera-ui=1.1.29.1+0m5 |

Hi,
some suggestions: 1) My main wish is still to improve the accuracy of the stored GPS position - see https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11934 https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6584 http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=142 Since camera-ui(2) is part of CSSU, maybe there are better chances? 2) Icons: (a) the trigger for the camera button looks like a stop in Audio/Video http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=142 (b) colors: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...&postcount=406 Take a look into the attachment for suggestions. (big problem to symbolize the solarize) (c) GPS: It is possible to let the "satellite antenna" blink if there is no GPS fix? 3) The shortcuts should be listed in a Help/ About. Also the installed version should be shown there. 4) Don't know if it is a general issue or only on my N900: After a reboot all settings of camera-ui(2) are lost. 5) Sometimes the lifescreen got black, if I pressed the camera button, I've heard the click sound, but no picture was taken. Sometimes dsmetool -k /usr/bin/camera-ui dsmetool -t /usr/bin/camera-ui helped (as user, not as root) to fix the issue. At the moment the situation is stable. :D Is there any logfile or a debug mode (planned?) to find out more? But all in all thanks a lot for your work! |

i really like the new ui, but sometimes i have issues with responsiveness - particularly going into the aperture or flash settings. |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
The UI is very slick indeed and really feels like it's the camera that was supposed to be. It appears to load and work at least as fast as the stock one but with more funtionality. Thank you Nicolai and the camera team.
I have a couple of questions... The camera seems to "see" the scene with a slightly blue-green tinge. This as the case with the stock camera, before installing the CSSU. Q. Is it just my device, or is this unanimous? Is there a feature of the CSSU camera (planned or current) that would help with this? (I like the colour functions (sepia etc.) but quite what I mean). Quite often I'd like to take photos at night or in very low light. I use stationary objects to rest the camera/phone on so keeping it steady is a given. Q. Is there a feature (current or planned) to alter or specify the virtual shutter speed? My ideal would be to allow for arbitrary amount of time and/or have a 'B' setting to open/close the shutter on press/release. |

I can not reproduce this. I made 50 shots yesterday on my way home. And all worked. Do you have the latest version from CSSU? Do you have any other camera apps? Can you describe in more detail what you did when this happens (maybe you changed the camera-settings or you recorded a video before). Nicolai |

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
nicolai, i don't have the cssu so i'm using camera-ui2 the old way in /usr/bin
so to replace the stock camera permanently can i rename camera-ui2 ---> camera-ui ? |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
Yes, but please use the updated version (see first post).
Make sure the stock camera-ui isn't running in the background: (as root) dsmetook -k /usr/bin/camera-ui remove camera-ui link rm /usr/bin/camera-ui rename camera-ui2 mv /usr/bin/camera-ui2 /usr/bin/camera-ui Test if this works (start camera-ui with the camera-ui icon) Test if your device get into a reboot loop. If so you did something wrong. (search this thread on how to get out of the reboot loop (use r&d-mode to disable watchdog)) Nicolai |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
seems risky, how can i use these commands at phone startup :
dsmetook -k /usr/bin/camera-ui dsmetook -t /usr/bin/camera-ui2 |
Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
Is there a way to implement or a script, to take photos with proximity senzor, headphone button or bluetoth headset button, for sharper images, because of moovment when pushing the normal botton, in slow speed photos.

Re: camera-ui2 (now a part of CSSU) (updated 09. May)
...don't suppose there any way for you to handle the conflict of the CSSU's app rotation setting being set to "forced" and rotating the camera?
...I have it set to forced to handle all the unfixable stock apps, but it then makes the camera UI a bit broken when I turn the phone :( |
